 Volatility Control Indices

Volatility Control Indices have become very popular with carriers for their fixed indexed annuity (FIA) products.

Volatility is the amount of uncertainty (or risk) with market fluctuations.  The indices strive to create stable returns over time by managing this volatility.  Using North American's Low Volatility Daily Risk Control Indices as an example, they measure performance of the 100 least volatile stocks in the S&P covering 10 market sectors in order to better diversify.

These indices (two choices) attempt to manage volatility to a 5% and 8% level by allocating a portion of the portfolio to cash in certain market environments.  When market volatility increases, the indices allocate more funds to cash.  When volatility decreases, the indices allocate more funds to stocks.

Life Plans

Reminder that the new Lincoln application is now required.  It is shorter and easier.  Please throw away all of your existing supplies and delete the existing versions from your computer hard-drive.

With the introduction of Lincoln's new lower term rates, they will no longer offer a quarterly billing option.  Quarterly is still available, but it must be done via bank draft.

North American has announced that, effective immediately, their life new business and underwriting departments will no longer communicate with writing agents on pending cases.  All communications will flow through our office.

North American has also introduced new forms for their indexed UL products.  Please throw away all of your existing supplies and delete the existing versions from your computer hard-drive.

Annuity Plans

Have you ever considered a "Trail Commission" option for your fixed indexed annuity (FIA) sales?  Since FIAs tend to have longer surrender charges, you should. binocs

Using a conservative example of an FIA that has a return of 4% every two out of three years, with a zero return in the remaining one out of three years, look at the difference:

  • With a normal 7% first-year-only commission, you would make $7,000 one-time on a $100,000 FIA sale
  • But, if you accept a 5% first year commission with a .5% trail you would make a total of $7,143 by year four, a total of $10,798 by year 10, a total of $14,304 by year 15, and a total of $18,309 by year 20.

Call us on your next FIA sale, and let us show you all the viable options.  Also, don't forget that our MYGA annuity rate pod is updated daily.  Contact Julie at ext. 233 for quotes and forms.
