The High Cost of Waiting

 

Finding value in the annuities you have available to you from our various companies is easy.

 

Consider this: Right now there is $11.3 trillion sitting on the sidelines in passbook savings or money markets not working for clients.

 

Many people tell you they are waiting for rates to go up, as the Fed has said they may start raising rates by year end.

 

But, rates don't move that quick.  Most economists predict that when the Fed does start raising rates, they will use the 2004 - 2006 model in which they were only raised 25 bps at a time.

 

Right now, an average one year CD rate is a mere .28%

 

So, start the conversation with your client this way.  Instead of saying, "you can earn 3% with an annuity", say, "I have available up to 10 times what you are earning right now".

 

Seize the moment now to talk to your clients about how you can make their money work harder.

Annuity Plans  

 

Do you sell indexed annuities?  What crediting method do you normally pick?  The same S&P 500 annual point-to-point crediting option that most agents do?

 

Consider diversifying 10% or 15% into an S&P 500 Inverse Performance Trigger option:

  • If at the end of the contract year the S&P 500 is the same or less than it was at the beginning of the contract year, your client's policy is credited with a healthy return.
  • This return varies by carrier and length of surrender charge, but the current crediting rate can be as high as 4.4%.
