Find a Church

It matters that the church is involved
The ELCA Task Force on Women and Justice is calling us into conversation with "Faith, Sexism, Justice: Conversations toward a Social Statement." Released this past summer, this study guide for individuals, congregations, and groups is the next step in the process of creating a social statement. It is a guide that looks at the many intersections of women in society and how economics, education, race, violence, and sexism contribute to our understanding of God's justice in our world. We talked to two women from our own synod that are involved in this work. Read more in the recent News Feature

Out and About

Warm welcomes
Bishop Rimbo and the synod staff appreciate the welcome hospitality provided by our local congregations and partner organizations as we visit and help proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and share the mission of our ministries each week. In the past two weeks, our staff was warmly received by the following communities: Leif Ericson Day School, Brooklyn; Koinonia, Highland Lake; The Healing Center, Brooklyn; Eger Homes and Services, Staten Island; St. Peter's, Baldwin; Salam, Brooklyn; Our Saviour, Brooklyn; Good Shepherd, Brooklyn. Thank you!

Welcome Event
Each year Bishop Rimbo and staff host a gathering for those who are new to our synod as interns, rostered leaders and pastoral leaders. We spent time describing the work of our synod, our strategic plan and initiatives, and staff roles. We also give a brief overview of the things leaders will need to be attentive to from administrative matters to continuing education to personal wellbeing. It is also a great opportunity for leaders to meet each other make connections. This year we had 19 leaders new to the synod attend!
