Find a Church

Day of Service
"God's work. Our hands." Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) - one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. The idea for the dedicated day of service is this: ELCA members are called to plan a service activity in their neighborhood, surrounding community or designated area. While service opportunities are endless, we invite you to find what makes sense for your local context and the congregation's service capacity. The date for 2016 is Sunday, September 11. Register your congregation and order customized shirts by August 19. Find more resources here.

Gain new skills for ministry
The Hudson Conference has created a tradition of having at least one educational event per year. At the recent Synod Assembly, Pr. Daniel Ward spoke of how Leadership Development Grants have allowed their conference to bring in outside speakers for these events. "Only in the gifting of the Leadership Grants was it possible for someone like Dr. Timothy Wengert to offer his expertise and experience... Without the grant we simply didn't have the necessary funds in our conference checking account to cover these events."
Twenty-five Leadership Development Grants have been awarded since its inception--How might you gain new skills for ministry in our changing world? Learn more and download an updated application here.

Love is love
"Orlando calls us to another way. Call it the way of the cross," preached Bishop Rimbo at a synod-wide prayer service last Friday. "It is time for us in the Church to take on the suffering of the Queer Community, of the Latino/Latina Community, to take on the suffering of all whose lives matter, to take it on in the name of Love, in the Name of Jesus."
