Find a Church

Praying for Orlando
"It is with heavy hearts that we find ourselves praying again after a mass shooting," says Bishop Rimbo. "Again we cry out. Again we pray. Again we find ourselves searching for God's grace and hope in the dark." After this weekend's tragic events in Orlando, FL, we offer these moments to gather and resources to help us to dwell more deeply with God and one another:
Feel the impact
At our 2016 Synod Assembly we heard from multiple people as they shared the impact our strategic plan has made on their congregation. Receiving a Capital Improvement Challenge Grant helped congregations recover after natural disasters, make important upgrades, and ensure that their building was a more welcoming place. The 2016 application is now available for download. See how your congregation can also feel the impact of our synod's strategic plan!
Out and About

Warm welcomes
Bishop Rimbo and the synod staff appreciate the welcome hospitality provided by our local congregations and partner organizations as we visit and help proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and share the mission of our ministries each week. In the past two weeks, our staff was warmly received by the following communities: Advent, Manhattan; Good Shepherd, Brooklyn; St John's, New York; Lutheran Schools Association, Maspeth; Grace, Forest Hills; Ascension, Deer Park; Cross of Christ, Babylon; Holy Redeemer, Brooklyn. Thank you!

Utilizing Church Property
Capell Barnett Matalon & Schoenfeld and Bernstein are hosting a free educational conference, Utilizing Church Property to Support and Expand Mission and Ministry. As religious organizations experience difficult financial pressures or seek creative ways to maximize the benefit of their existing assets in support of their mission and ministry, many are considering leveraging real estate assets to support their long-term viability. They will present on the options and potential pitfalls at their June 22 event

What are you?
"I'm Afro-Latina, and that comes with a lot of baggage and a lot of pride. I know that some of my ancestors bought others or were sold, or their land was stolen. Then together they all built continents with blood, sweat, and tears. And so, I have a painful and beautiful legacy to continue." Read the full blog post here.
