Our 2016 Synod Assembly, Confronting racism through connection, commitment, courage, is just days away. No matter where you are, you can see what is happening at assembly by liking us on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and finding all of our assembly resources through our Guidebook app.
You can also download our newly updated agenda and worship materials. See the multitude of voices leading us through worship and personal reflections as we focus on racism in our church and society.
All are welcome to join us on Friday, May 20 for Eucharist (4:30 pm) and our keynote presentation with Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas (7:30 pm). No special registration is required, but we ask that you check in at the registration table on site. Find full details about our Assembly here.

A Place for All
As we continue the conversation on racism in the United States, we must look within our congregations and communities. Mark your calendars for the next live ELCA webcast, "A Place for All," on Wednesday, May 25, at 8 pm (EST). Learn more here.

Anti-racism Introductory trainings
We are called to be a church that embraces each person and confronts racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, age, gender, familial, sexual orientation, physical, personal, and class barriers that often manifest themselves in unjust treatment, inequalities, exclusion, and violence. We are hosting three Anti-Racism Introductory Trainings on June 11, September 10, and November 12 for all elected and volunteer synodical leaders; synodical boards, committees, teams; rostered leaders, synodically-rostered leaders, candidates in the call process, congregation call committees, and staff. These events are to help equip leaders to recognize and understand the complexity and implications of racism and racial issues. Learn more and register here

Working Preacher Presents: The Craft of Preaching
Do you ever wonder what's "behind the scenes" of some of the sermons you get to hear at big preaching conferences with "famous" preachers? Have you always wanted a practical preaching conference where you can learn some new "how-to's" for constructing a sermon and honing your homiletical skills? This three-day lifelong learning course from Luther Seminary will do that and more. Learn more about this October 3-5 event here

Camp Ma-He-Tu
The Lutheran Girls' Camp Association, doing business as Camp Ma-He-Tu, has been providing overnight camping experiences to Lutheran girls and their friends since the summer of 1937. The camp runs on volunteer power, having no year round full-time employees. Many of the Board members are former campers or counselors who want to continue to provide that special camping experience for girls. The camp can host 110 girls for each of the three, two-week encampments. Girls may attend from ages 7 to 15, with a Counselor-in-Training program for 16 year olds. At Ma-He-Tu, all of the campers, find a place to be themselves; a place where they belong and explore the gifts that God has given them. Campers safely enjoy exciting adventures, learn new skills and make life-long friends in a Christian, supportive and caring environment. They make discoveries, they make friends, and they make memories.
Adults can still experience camp by attending our "Women in the Woods" session at the beginning of each summer. This session often brings multiple generations of families together; you will have moms introducing their young daughters to life at camp and grandmothers sharing the blessings of the past and experiencing new traditions with their daughters and granddaughters. White privilege? I thought we were talking about racism
"What has become clear to me is that I am the product of a system of privilege that has rendered me functionally unconscious of that privilege, leaving me unable to see how it oppresses my brothers and sisters of color, and how it oppresses me," writes Pr. David Parsons in the Anti-Racism Task Force's blog. Read the full blog post with concepts and tools for understanding the need to work for change
