Find a Church

ELCAvotes
Through the simple act of casting an informed vote, we have the opportunity and responsibility to help make decisions that will affect our lives and the lives of our families. As our Christian faith compels us to attend to the world through the lens of our relationship to God and to one another, ELCAvotes encourages voter participation, civic engagement, and advocacy around voter rights.
As we approach the New York Presidential Primary Election on April 19, you can share the ELCAvotes webpage to encourage voting and participation, find resources to become an advocate for those left out of the voting process, and engage with others about the intersections between our faith and elections.

Starting conversations about race
While watching "Confronting Racism", Cynthia Corley, a member of New Hope, Jamaica, got the idea to take the conversation further into her congregation. In February, New Hope hosted a screening of the movie Selma, staying after to talk about their own experiences. Watch what happened here.
You can start the conversation in your congregation using the resources on our Racial Justice Webpage.

Communication Day
Are you a parish communicator? If you are involved with communicating the mission, news, and stories of your parish - whether that be via newsletter (electronic or print), a website, social media, taking photos, or by other means - then the answer is yes! Never has this work been more important or more difficult to keep up with. And so you are invited for a day of workshops and fellowship to improve skills, share ideas, and network with other communicators. Join Mercer School of Theology in their upcoming Parish Communication Day on April 9.

Lutheran Schools Association LSA Leaders Conference: Effective Employment Practices
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's budget passed last week and it includes changes to minimum wage and paid family leave requirements. All of these changes go into effect over the next several years, but you can be prepared now by joining Lutheran School Association's upcoming leaders conference on effective employment practices with Mindy Stern. This important event is open to all school leaders, pastors, and board members; you don't need to be a member of LSA to attend. Click here to learn more.

Patterns for Proclamation

All are welcome. Click here to download the flyer and RSVP.

Climate Change, Race, and Food: Forging a Just Future
Quadrant One and the Hudson Valley Cooperative invite you for an educational event with internationally renowned scholar Dr. Cynthia Moe-Lobeda and local race and food justice organizer Cheryl DeSanctis from Soul Fire Farm, Grafton, NY. The focus will be on what people of faith need to know about environmental injustice and racism in the food system through worship, music, workshop style activities, and presentations. This event is made possible by a Leadership Development Grant. RSVP by April 15. Learn more here
