Find a Church

Journey through Holy Week
"Without the resurrection, we are without hope," writes Bishop Robert A. RImbo. "With the resurrection, through all the difficulties of life, we can go on because we know the end of the story. The end is in the strong hands of God who raised Jesus from the dead. Without the resurrection we have nothing to say to a hurting, unsteady world. With the Resurrection we have truly good news." Read and share his Easter message here.
In her March column for The Lutheran, Presiding Bishop Elizabeth A. Eaton reflects on that space between Good Friday and Easter. She says it can be seen as empty, something to be resisted, but it also beckons us from our life to a life in Christ. Read her Holy Saturday column here

For Rostered Leaders

Take a healthy step
Last year 67.83% of pastors, spouses, and other ELCA-Primary members in our synod took the Mayo Clinic health assessment. Worth more than $1 million collectively, the health discount is a valuable reward. But the real reward is greater health - among ELCA leaders, congregations, and church budgets. This year, we have only reached 21.68% participation in our synod. Take a step towards better health and take your health assessment before April 30!

Setting apart of deacons
Vicki Elfers, Natalie Romero, Carol Fey DeCosta, and Susan Bliss, candidates for the rostered diaconate, will be set apart on April 2 at 3pm at Ascension, Deer Park. Everyone is invited to this festival Eucharist with Bishop Rimbo preaching and presiding.

Building Men for Christ
Lutheran Men in Mission is hosting a Building Men For Christ workshop on April 2 at St Paul's, Port Jefferson. This workshop was developed by ELCA's national Lutheran Men in Mission and is great way to build up the men's ministry in your congregation. Our local chapter is holding this event in partnership with the Peconic Conference to build the church and its men. This event is made possible in part through a Leadership Development Grant of the Metropolitan New York Synod.
