8th Annual Chili Competition Draws 1000's
The competition was tight with over 20 chili recipes from participating Parrot Heads from along the Emerald Coast. Celebrity judges chose their top three chili recipes, from chocolate-infused to sirloin-loaded varieties. The competition was hosted on the Destin Harbor at the 8th Annual Parrot Head Chili Cook Off to benefit American Cancer Society.
People's Choice was awarded to Ray Yantch 1st Place was awarded to Candy Pate 2nd Place was awarded to Kenton Erickson 3rd Place was awarded to Kathy Mauck Professional category winners were: 1st Place Harry T's 2nd Place Crab Island Cantina 3rd Place Emerald Grande's Grande Vista Bar and Grille
The event proved to be very successful, raising approximately $8000 to benefit American Cancer Society Relay For Life, more than any year prior. "It takes my breath away that we were able to raise this huge amount." stated Jean Grieve, Destin Relay for Life Event Chair. "As a Parrot Head and a Cancer Survivor, it warms my heart that this event has continued to grow year after year for such a wonderful cause. We are proud to have the Parrot Heads as a team and all of the dollars raised will be put towards funding research for a cure for this disease." The DizzyJuke Band and The Sauce Boss had over 1000 fans rocking late into the afternoon with their hot blues and soulful tunes.
