Many Community Action Agencies offer Head Start pre-school programs, knowing that early childhood education helps to combat poverty. Also started as part of the War on Poverty, Head Start provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families.

 

The Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership's (MYCAP) Head Start program has shown how it truly benefits children and gives them a head start in life. One shining example is Clemente Rodriguez who attended MYCAP's Head Start program in 2004 at the age of four.

IMPACT Community Action Part of Innovative Learning Cluster

 

The Corporation for Enterprise Development (CFED) - a non-profit organization that empowers low- and moderate-income households to build and preserve assets by advancing policies and programs that help them achieve the American dream - launched an innovative Learning Cluster this year with 11 organizations throughout the country, including IMPACT Community Action in Franklin County.

Lima Allen Council on Community Affairs Wins Chamber Award

  

On Wednesday, May 7 the Lima Allen Council on Community Affairs (LACCA) received the Non-Profit of the Year award from the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce at their annual Awards Gala. LACCA was one of three area non-profit agencies in the running for the prestigious award, which they also won at the inaugural awards gala in 1998.
