Joseph was faced with the prospect of never seeing his unborn son while incarcerated in the Community Alternative Center. But this father-to-be started taking the Fathers Matter (24:7 Dads) course through the Community Action Commission of Erie, Huron and Richland Counties Richland branch. The OACAA 2014 Annual Summer Conference will be held May 20-23 in Athens, Ohio and registration is open! Come help us commemorate the 50 year anniversary of the War on Poverty where President Lyndon B. Johnson spoke almost 50 years ago to the day, presenting his vision of the Great Society, which eventually led to the creation of Community Action Agencies.

IMPACT Community Action Pilots CFPB Program, Receives Visit from Director Richard Cordray

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was established by Congress in 2010 to educate and protect Americans in regards to consumer financial products and services in response to the financial crisis that began in 2007. The Bureau works to give consumers the information they need to understand the terms of their agreements with financial companies. And IMPACT Community Action Agency is participating in one of their pilot projects.

Ohio State Senator Eklund Visits Lifeline 
 
On February 28, Ohio Senator John Eklund visited Lifeline, the Community Action Agency in Lake County. Senator Eklund determined he would like to visit the agency after Lifeline's Executive Director Carrie Dotson met with him as part of the legislative visits that took place at OACAA's Winter Legislative Conference.
