Best Practice Award Nominations Due December 2
OACAA is proud to once again collaborate with The Ohio State University John Glenn School of Public Affairs and the Ohio Development Services Agency to provide the Best Practices Awards. Developed in 1999, the Best Practices Awards honor innovative and effective Community Action Agency programs that measurably meet the needs of clients, families and communities by helping low-income people become more self-sufficient. The Best Practices Awards serve as a showcase for unique Community Action Agency efforts that make a measurable and life-changing difference. This year's award nominations are due December 2.

CAC of Portage County Receives 21st Century Learning Center Grant
The Community Action Council of Portage County along with the Ravenna School District recently received an $850,000 21st Century Learning Center Grant to provide after-school activities at an area middle school and high school.

Two Community Action Agencies Receive Best Practice in Weatherization Awards
The Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission (NOCAC) and the Community Action Committee of Pike County (CAC Pike County) both recently received Best Practice Awards for their outstanding achievements in Weatherization. NOCAC received the award for the single family home category and CAC Pike County received the award for the manufactured home category.

Community Action Employee Named CDC Staff Member of the Year
Donna Fox-Moore, housing director at the Community Action Program Commission of the Lancaster Fairfield County Area (LFCAA) was named Staff Member of the Year by the Ohio CDC Association at their recent annual conference in Cincinnati.
