Bosley's Big Birthday Bash

Please join us at Parrot University on Saturday, July 25, from 11 am to 4 pm for Bosley's Big Birthday Bash. This is our opportunity to celebrate parrot adoption with all our wonderful friends and supporters.

There will be light refreshments, cake for the birthday bird and fabulous raffle prize giveaways with all proceeds going to support the birds of CPR. Thanks to all of you, we had record raffle sales last year and hope to beat that record this year! The more tickets you buy, the more you help the birds, and the better your chances are for winning! Prizes include gift cards from Mellow Mushroom, Trio Restaurant, Roosters Wood-fired Kitchen, Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and more. Several other gifts will also be raffled, including a beautiful piece of parrot art by Scott Partridge. Raffle tickets are on sale now at Parrot U for just $2 each, or 12 tickets for $20.

To help celebrate, Parrot University will be holding a special weekend sale and we've added a 'Parrot 101' class on Sunday, July 26, as part of the weekend's events.

We hope you'll plan to join us to party with the parrots. Bosley can't wait to see you!

Meet Bosley: Featured Bird for July

Bosley, Blue & Gold Macaw
Species: Blue & Gold Macaw

Age: Teens

Bosley, also known as Queen Bos, is a female, Blue & Gold Macaw. She's bald and beautiful and has lots of energy. Bosley loves head-rubs and loves to eat. She loves all the different kinds of food she's offered, from pellets, to sweet potato, carrots, beans, pasta, veggies and fruit. Queen Bos will tell you to "come here" and then blow you a kiss. She says "I love you" and then "Buh-bye" when she realizes you're leaving. And she's got a southern accent. This gal is smart, sassy and a real favorite. Please come meet the birthday girl at her Big Birthday Bash. Watch Bosley's video.

Stormy, Amazon
Stormy, Yellow Fronted Amazon

All the birds at CPR are waiting to find new homes, but some have been

waiting longer than others. Moe

has lived at CPR since 2006 and has ongoing monthly prescription expenses. Stormy has been with us since 2007, Poe & Gipper since 2008 and Ms. Bosley since 2009. At CPR we love and treat all of the parrots equally. However, because of their long-term residence or medical needs, the 12 birds in our Sponsor Program require additional financial resources. By sponsoring one of these parrots, you can help defray these costs.

If you feel a connection to a special bird but can't adopt right now, if you're looking for a unique gift or memorial to honor someone special or simply want to help CPR financially, then please consider sponsoring one of these wonderful parrots.

Please visit our Sponsor Page where you can choose the parrot you want to sponsor and your sponsorship level. It's easy to set up convenient, monthly donations by credit card or print the Sponsor Form to donate by check.

All sponsors will receive

  • A tax deductible donation receipt
  • A thank photo and the story of your bird
  • Your name on a special wall plaque at Parrot University and on our website
And best of all, you'll have the personal satisfaction of knowing that your financial support is making a real difference in the life of a homeless parrot.

Special Presentation:  So You Want a Talking Bird?

Hasn't everybody dreamed of owning a talking bird? This special presentation "So You Want a Talking Bird?" is geared toward non-bird owners. It's an entertaining and educational introduction to the joys and

challenges of 'parrothood' and can help people decide whether they really want a bird. If your friends have fallen in love with your flock and talk about how much they want a bird, then please tell them about this special presentation.

We encourage you to invite your friends and family to come meet some our resident birds and hear from our experts about life as a parrot owner.

Tip of the Month:  Organizing Bird Toys

By Lindsay Boardman

Toy Wall at Parrot University

If you're like most companion parrot owners, you'll want to make sure that your bird has everything he or she needs to stay happy and healthy. Often, this means that there are lots of toys and other supplies hanging around the house. To help keep the toys tidy and organized, try consolidating them to one cabinet, drawer, or plastic bin. Plus, by making sure each item is clean when you store it, you'll have easy and quick access the next time you need to use it.

Please send comments, suggestions, and stories to info@CompanionParrots.org. Thanks to everybody for your support!
