It is with mixed emotions that I am announcing that I will be retiring as President of Companion Parrots Re-homed effective September 30, 2014. I have felt for some time that due to the time-consuming tasks of managing CPR and owning Parrot University that I was no longer able to focus on my passion -- education. While it's so difficult for me to leave the day-to-day involvement with the wonderful birds in our program, I hope to contribute to their welfare by spreading the word about their plight. Although my responsibilities are changing, I will continue to be actively involved with CPR as a teacher and guest lecturer. In addition, I will serve in an advisory capacity to the new board. I am NOT going anywhere, folks!

Also on September 30, my husband and I will be transferring ownership of Parrot University to CPR. Your ongoing loyalty to Parrot U is critical to the long term success of both organizations. Keeping the CPR adoption program running and caring for the birds comes at a financial cost which Parrot U has endured but struggled to meet. We will soon be announcing a fundraising campaign that will build a financial base to ensure CPR's existence in the future and provide housing and care for the birds of CPR for many years to come.

Over the years, CPR has placed hundreds of birds and has been so fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers and friends. We've also established a national reputation and built a growing online community that is engaged with our organization. I can't thank everyone enough -- the Charlotte community and especially our volunteers, supporters and customers -- for the love and generosity that you have shown to me and the birds throughout the years. I am very excited about my new role and the ongoing success of CPR.
