Welcome Karen Barnett, MD, FAAP

Dr. Barnett graduated summa cum laude with Honors Distinction in Biology from Boston University in 1979. She was one of only three women admitted to the highly selective inaugural class of mMeDIC Scholars at Boston University School of Medicine and received her MD degree in 1983. She completed her pediatric training at Tuft's New England Medical Center and has remained in the Greater Boston and Merrimack Valley area as a general, as well as academic, pediatrician since that time. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Barnett has been an active member of the Pediatric Physicians Organization of Children's' (PPOC) since 2004. She serves on numerous committees and holds the position of Regional Medical Director for the North Region. In this role, Dr. Barnett actively assists PPOC affiliated practices in providing reliable, safe, high quality health care to the patients and families served by these practices. With passion and commitment she has dedicated her career to spreading best practice guidelines, increased access and highest quality care to all pediatric patients and families.

Dr. Barnett has received numerous honors and awards throughout her career, with the one she holds most dear being awarded in December 2014 from The Schwartz Center for Compassionate Care, located at MGH, in recognition of her hard work and dedication to nurturing patient-caregiver relationships and resulting improved health outcomes.

Dr. Barnett lives in North Andover with her husband, an orthodontist, and her dogs and cats! She has two grown daughters still busy pursuing their own passions and completing graduate studies. In her free time she plays competitive tennis and enjoys fitness, cooking, gardening and travel.

Dr. Barnett brings over 25 years of pediatric experience as she joins our practice! Our front desk is now booking appointments with her. She is accepting new patients and patients previously under her care.

Welcome  Jessie Taylor, MSN, CPNP

We are happy to announce that Jessie Taylor, MSN, CPNP will be joining our staff in September. Jessie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wheaton College in 2003 and went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Simmons College in 2009. Prior to joining CMO, Jessie spent 10 years working at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children on the inpatient pediatric floors, first as a patient care associate, then as a registered nurse and finally, as a nurse practitioner for the pediatric hospitalist service.

Jessie was the first NP to work directly with the pediatric medical residents at MGH and she was instrumental in defining and developing her responsibilities there. Her role was initially part of a grant-funded pilot study, only intended to last six months. However, due to the tremendous success of the pilot, as well as an outpouring of support from both physicians and nurses, Jessie's position was made permanent and she continued on for five more years. After taking a year off to stay home with her two young children, Jessie has decided to change gears and take on a new challenge of providing primary care at CMO.

Jessie is licensed by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP). She is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners as well as Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She currently lives in Hudson, MA with her husband and two daughters.

Our front desk is now booking appointments with Jessie.  She is accepting new patients and will continue to follow patients that had been previously seen by other CMO providers.  We hope you all will join us in welcoming her to our practice!
