Imani moved with her family from house to house for years, from Milwaukee's north side to the west side, from Glendale to Brown Deer to Wauwatosa. Every year, she put down new roots only to change routines, surroundings and familiar faces months later.
It was confusing and challenging, especially for an introvert like Imani. Before her senior year, she said she started to find a passion for education and community leadership - and then her family moved again, 1,700 miles away, to Arizona.
