Farm Tour: Mighty Food Farm in Pownal, VT 

Friday October 10, 2014 at 3 pm

 

 

 

Join Wild Oats Market for a Visit to Mighty Food Farm in Pownal, Vermont 

 

 

Mighty Food Farm by GI Tour includes the new greenhouse dedicated to growing winter kale for Wild Oats customers and a Q&A with organic farmer Lisa MacDougall.

Friday, October 10, 3 pm - all are invited to join Wild Oats Market on a tour of Mighty Food Farm, a certified organic farm in Pownal, Vermont that grows a variety of organic produce. Participants will tour Mighty Food's fields and hoop houses with Lisa and her crew, and check out the hoop house that will be dedicated to growing fresh, organic kale for Wild Oats for the next three winters.

The tour begins at 3 pm and will last approximately 45 minutes. After the tour, meet in the Mighty Food CSA barn for cider, cider donuts, and Q&A with the outgoing owner/operator of Mighty Food Farm, Lisa MacDougall. All are welcome to join us (and a farm tour is fun for all ages). Meet at Mighty Food's main driveway (next to the white farmhouse) at 549 Cedar Hill Road in Pownal.

 


 

 

 

Wicks is founder of the beloved Philadelphia restaurant the White Dog Café. She also helped to found Fair Food Philadelphia and the national organization Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE), which is now a network of over 20,000 local independent businesses in the U.S. and Canada.  In 2009 Judy sold the White Dog with a unique agreement that preserves local ownership and maintains sustainable business practices.

 

Pre-registration is required, as seating is limited. $10 or 10 BerkShares (BerkShares Preferred). Payment will be taken at the door. 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 Farm Tour: Hilltop Orchards, Richmond, MA

Friday October 17, 2014 at 3:30 pm

 

at Hilltop Orchards includes a hay ride and a cider tour that includes production, bottling and pressing. Hilltop is the primary cider supplier for the Berkshire Co-op during local apple season. They also supply the Co-op with local apples throughout the fall and winter. Come see how they do it and enjoy an apple inspired snack at the conclusion of the tour.
