For ACT parents and students, we have a great opportunity on August 26 for you to learn more about the entire college application process. The session is free and parents of students from 8th grade through rising seniors are encouraged to attend.

There are still a few open spots in summer classes offered through the M-T and Cedarburg Recreation Departments.  Details below!

Knowledge Edge will offer a Study Skills program for high school students this summer and fall.  Sessions will start in August, then the rest of the program continues after school starts and students are encouraged to bring their own school work.  Information is below.

The College Search, Application, Test Prep, and Financial Aid Processes:Q-and-A with Tom Tonnesen, Director/Consultant, College Admissions Pathways (CAPs)

We have all heard the phrase: "It's not only what you don't know that will hurt you, but what you don't even know you don't know." This statement is highly applicable to today's college search and preparation landscape.

Come join us at Knowledge Edge on the evening of Tuesday, August 26 at 7:00pm for an open Q-and-A session with Tom Tonnesen of College Admissions Pathways (CAPs) (www.caps2college.com) on all aspects of the college search process. Parents and students from 8th grade through rising high school seniors will find this session relevant and informative.

Tom is a retired administrator with the University of Wisconsin System and a former high school teacher. He writes a monthly column entitled "The Ins and Outs of College Admissions" for the Ozaukee County News Graphic, and in 2013 he and his CAPs business were named by YesCollege.com to the national list of "How to Get into College: 101 Top Resources." He is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the Wisconsin Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC). Tom and his wife live in Cedarburg and their children hold degrees from Princeton, Penn, the University of Illinois, UC-Berkeley Boalt School of Law, and the Harvard Business School.

High School Study Skills:  A Blueprint for Success.  Sign Up Now!
Does your high schooler have the study skills it takes to succeed in high school?  If not, our high school study skills program can provide the skills and confidence that will make the difference for your student.

The Study Skills workshop runs for 10 hours. It includes work on a number of different skills: Time Management & Organization, Taking Notes in class and from a textbook, Preparing for Tests, and Mnenomic Strategies. The program also helps define how a student learns and focuses on study strategies that work best for each student's tendencies.  Skills are taught and students apply them to their own school work with guidance during their sessions.

The first two sessions this year will be August 20th and 27th; space will be limited.  The next session will be September 17th and most Wednesdays going forward. Students will be allowed to join at anytime. The cost for the 10 hours will be $550.

For more information, give us a call at 262-238-8867.

CenterTrac Sets Knowledge Edge Apart from Other Tutoring Services

We realize that the investment parents make in tutoring is significant, and that parents want to know what is accomplished at their students' sessions.

Since its inception, Knowledge Edge has utilized CenterTrac, a program that provides feedback to parents via email after each tutoring session.  Tutors write a message to parents after every tutoring session providing details on the session and what was accomplished.  This provides parents a window into the tutoring process and information they can use to talk with their children about what occurred during tutoring.

We view ourselves as a partner with parents and teachers in trying to help students succeed.  CenterTrac is an important communications channel between Knowledge Edge and parents; its just one more way Knowledge Edge sets itself apart from other tutoring services.

As one parent recently wrote us, "Thank you for these email updates. We love the feedback."
