Dear Mora Award Recipients,
Busy as I know you are, I hope that you will read this annual update, check the links, and confirm that you are the designated Mora Award (MA) representative for your winning library.
 | L to R: Dr. James Blasingame, Tracey Flores and Professor & poet Alberto Rios |
Please join me in welcoming our 2013 winners from Arizona State University. Read about their creative and excellent Da celebration. You can download the updated list of Mora Award winners that I hope will help you to collaborate with another. You can also reach out to Da Dynamos .
- Thanks to educators Kay and Dan Moore, we again awarded three Mora Honor Awards to: Joliet Public Library (IL), Salt Lake County Library System (UT), and Waukegan Public Library (IL). You can read their comments in this blog post.
- This is an exciting time for Da advocates! We are busy seeking new partners to help us expand and deepen our work. Please encourage others to join us.
- Thank you for your commitment to Da. I view you as Da leaders in your community, state, region and nationally and hope you see yourself in that role. Individually or in groups, volunteer to present Da sessions at conferences, advocate for it with your city and state librarians, in all ALA's youth and family-serving divisions, and in the greater literacy and educational community. Mentor other librarians, motivate others to plan April celebrations and encourage them to apply for the Mora Award.
Please respond to this e-mail and confirm that you are the official contact for your library, designated and supported by the director. Also, please ensure that the Da section of your library site is updated annually. For the Mora Award section of my site to be an effective resource, visitors need your Da page(s). Please check your library's link on the Da section of my website.
Lupita Vega continues as chair of the Mora Award committee. Future committees will be comprised primarily of REFORMA members though we have broadened the scope to include others. We all welcome your ideas.
Thanks for sharing bookjoy!
