Personal Money Planning's Newsletter
January 9, 2016
Millions of folks will have their eyes glued to the television (or some kind of screen), waiting for the announcement of the Powerball numbers. So, in honor of the only thing earning more money than the Star Wars movie, I've shared a few 'lottery-inspired' topics. First, the Soapbox includes a link to an interview I did this week about what to do if you come into a prize like this (good for when you come into a lot of money at once at other times, too). Money 101 links to some information about the wealthy, too. I'm betting most of the millionaires didn't get that way because they purchased a lotto ticket. We wrapped it up with a few fun lines about lotteries in general.

Happy New Year!

Where are the millionaires?
dollar_bill.jpg
There may be a chance to be a millionaire after all! No, I'm not specifically talking about tonight's Powerball (although if you win, you would certainly qualify), I'm talking about the fact that the Millionaire's Club is no longer so exclusive. According to the recent Credit Suisse Global Wealth Index, there are over 33 million households with $1 million or more in total net worth (measured in dollars). That's a 146% rise in the past 15 years. You are probably living in the United States, too. That also works in your favor. United States has more millionaires than any other country (Click here to see the breakdown).
