Air Force base impact
fighter_planes.jpg In a recent e-mail, president and CEO of the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Henry Florsheim, reminded us about the economic impact Sheppard Air Force Base has on the local area. This flyer breaks down the base's involvement and its partnership with the community. If you are in the Texoma area and would like a chance to visit the base, contact the Wichita Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau to pre-register for a monthly tour. Their number is 940-716-5550.

Life insurance for young folks
business-travel-abstract.jpg It's not something that comes up when your college-age student applies for privately-funded student loans, but it probably should be. Who would pay the loan back if the young person dies? Sometimes it's the parents. One reason to start a conversation. Read more here

Monthly Savings Resolution
Today is the first of the month. Why wait until the first of the year to make any kind of resolution? This month, why not try to save a few bucks? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Planning on meeting a friend to catch up over dinner? Go out for breakfast or lunch instead. Dinner is the most expensive meal when dining out.
  • Making your shopping list and sticking to it at the grocery store is one thing, but not wandering around the store long enough to get tempted by things you don't need is another. Set a time limit when you grab your cart--say, 30 minutes-- and stick to your list. Then leave.
  • Take 5 minutes to look at your credit card or bank statement. Work on eliminating or reducing one recurring bill. Can you get a better cable rate (or cancel it altogether)? Are you actually going to the gym or just paying for the possibility?
Have a great weekend!
