Personal Money Planning's Newsletter
December 20, 2014
Gary Silverman, CFPYou may know that I support the Navy Seabees at Sheppard Air Force Base. They recently won recognition as the most community active military group at Sheppard. They earned that award because of their commitment to help nonprofits in Texoma with projects of all sorts. The Seabees are an integral part of Hotter'N Hell Hundred week, FallsFest, Streams and Valleys trail days, Thor, The Duel, and Wee-Chi-Tah trail races to name a few. The Seabees help many nonprofits throughout Texoma and now is a great time to help them back.

Each year, the Seabee Volunteers raise money to fund the Seabee Ball. It is an annual event that will occur March 2015. If you are an appreciative civilian, there is a way you can help the celebration happen.

For the last 2 years the Seabee Volunteers have helped a local property management company with construction related projects in order to raise the Ball money. The property management company purchased the supplies, and the Seabees provided the skills. The Seabees did such a great job that the company is caught up, so this year they are available to help others.

If you need assistance with  a project between now and March, please consider hiring the Seabees. These volunteers work on their off-duty hours and provide good work at reasonable rates. They can build fences, clean up yards, paint, etc.

You will meet with a Seabee Volunteer to set your work expectations and a fair price for the project.

To find out how you can meet with a Seabee volunteer to discuss the scope and cost of your project, and to help the Seabees earn their March Ball, please contact Roby Christie at roby@hh100.org or  call 940 781-8547.

Don't worry, be happy
Gary Silverman caricature The bull market started 70 months ago and has gained (as I'm writing this) about 250%. Since 1950 there have been 10 bull markets and only 3 of those have gone up at least 200%. So, assuming you didn't sell out of the market during the Great Recession (and not get back in), you should be happy. While they might be happy with the results, studied investors tend to wonder what the future will bring. Bull markets, after all, don't last forever.
