Personal Money Planning's Newsletter
August 31, 2013
Gary Silverman, CFPHowdy!

I won't be spending this Saturday watching hundreds of bikes speed by, but I plan to have a great time anyway. I hope whatever you do this weekend you enjoy every moment, including taking a few moments to read our latest newsletter. This time, the articles give a bit of perspective--on Detroit and our own lives. In Money 101, we've shared a little history of Labor Day. And to lighten the mood a bit, a fun article link in the Final Thought.

Regards,

Gary Silverman, CFP®

Wichita Falls' Big Weekend
HHH 100 Last weekend, the 32nd annual Hotter'n Hell 100 bike ride took place in Wichita Falls, Texas. This is one of the oldest and largest cycling events in the United States. Racers and riders come from all over the country and the world to participate. I didn't ride (I don't even own a bike), but I was at Rest Stop Four with Grace Church providing water, Poweraid, snacks, and encouragement to the riders around the 40-mile mark. If you are a rider, I encourage you to try out the next one. Don't worry, there are many routes that are a lot less than 100 miles.

Final Thought
As a financial planner, I've heard of many strange places people go to to get advice about money. Sometimes it's bad advice. For example, if you listened to popular music over the years, you could be in for a financial fiasco.  Click here here for the fun article.

Enjoy your Labor Day Weekend!
