Money 101
MAY 4, 2013
Howdy!
Gary Silverman, CFP
Summer may be just around the corner, but the folks at the Dallas/Ft.Worth Curling Club are still thinking about winter sports. To see what curling is all about, why not come out to the next open house on May 18? You'll get a better understanding of the next Winter Olympics and (more importantly) what I'm blabbing about in some of my curling articles. I won't be at this one, unfortunately, but I'm sure you'll still have a great time.

The event is held at the Ice Training Center, 522 Centennial Blvd. in Richardson, TX. You can come from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm or from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Saturday, May 18. The cost is $25 at the door, or $20 if you pre-register at www.dfwcurling.com.

Recently we took a group of several dozen Navy SeaBees to a Rangers' baseball game in Arlington. Personal Money Planning is the sponsor of the SAFB SeaBees and the game has become an annual tradition. The group is a mix of instructors, their familes, and students. For some of the students, this was the first time they had ever been to a major-league ballpark.

SeaBees are the builders for the Navy. They gained immortality during WWII when they went island hopping with the Marines, building airfields while under enemy fire. This "Can Do!" attitude was evident even at the game. When I went to the restroom between innings I saw a group of SeaBees who had found a broken towel dispenser. Instead of just using one of the other ones, they fixed the broken one.

Hurrah SeaBees, and thank you for protecting our country!

We enjoyed spending a day at the ballpark with the SeaBees

FINAL THOUGHT

Business owners want their products and services to work correctly, but in Gary Kremen's case, his product may have worked too well. Mr. Kremen is the founder of Match.com, an online dating site. He knew that women found it useful when his girlfriend left him for someone she met on Match.com.

Have a great weekend!
