On Jan. 21, Chris Gehrz is with us. Chris is a writer and blogger at pietistschoolman.com as well as a history professor at Bethel University, and member at Salem Covenant Church. He'll be challenging us to think about the connection between youth ministry and pietism and other deep thoughts.

Congratulations to Jeff and Katie del Villar on the birth of their daughter Mercy Avalon Fernandez del Villar! She was born on Jan. 10. Jeff is the youth pastor at Crossroads Covenant Church in Forest Lake, MN.
 
And congratulations to Mitch and Amanda Downing on the birth of their son, Barrett Ryker Downing! He was born on Dec. 16. Mitch is the youth pastor and Amanda is the children's pastor at Renew Covenant in Eau Claire, WI.

Mark Yarhouse Seminar  
Feb. 27
Mark Yarhouse is the author of "Understanding Sexual Identity: A Resource for Youth Ministry," as well as a speaker, researcher, professor, elder and therapist. In other words, he knows what he's talking about when it comes to sexuality and the church.

Make sure to bring your youth ministry leadership team to this Saturday seminar on Feb. 27 at Salem Covenant Church in New Brighton, MN.

 
MOVE
April 15-16
MOVE (Mission Outreach Venture and Experience) is April 15-16 at Minnehaha Academy's South Campus. It's two days of learning, serving and experiencing an urban environment for Northwest Conference high school students and leaders.

This year's theme is "Unsung." In this culture of being Facebook famous and Snapchat celebrities, we're focusing on how God uses the average person, whether that's today or thousands of years ago. Our speaker is Hector Saucedo (he did the Upstream talk at CHIC's Basecamp) and worship is once again led by Blue Oaks Covenant Church. 
 
AIL
June 18-25
Adventures in Leadership is a weeklong leadership development experience for high school students who are nominated by their churches. Select students head to Adventurous Christians camp where they learn leadership principles and put them into action in the BWCA-all in a guided, challenging environment. If you're interested in nominating a leadership student in your ministry or in being an AIL leader, contact Jon Kramka at jon@northwestconference.org. Applications and information will be available at the beginning of February.
