Fire destroys home of Moose Lake pastor Todd Van Zee

Adapted from a Covenant Newswire story by Stan Friedman

Fire destroyed the home of Covenant pastor Todd Van Zee's family on Saturday night in Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota. Thankfully, no one was injured as no one was home at the time of the fire.

Todd and his wife, Jayne, were at the church when the fire broke out. A neighbor youth was going by the house, which sits on four acres of property, saw the smoke and called 911.

He then went home to tell his parents, and they returned to rescue the Van Zee's dog from the garage and also were able to pull out the family's fishing boat before the structure was overwhelmed with smoke.
The Van Zees have two children (Nathan & Micah) in college and another doing missions work (Kayla) in Haiti. Pastor Van Zee shared with NWC Superintendent Mark Stromberg that, while difficult for he and Jayne, it is especially difficult for their children at the present time.

"As an entire Conference, we stand with the Van Zee family in these days of loss," stated Superintendent Stromberg. "I ask that everyone receiving news of this tragic incident remember the Van Zee's in your thoughts and prayers. More details will be forthcoming on concrete ways that others may be able to provide a tangible encouragement to Pastor Todd and his family."
