MOVE 2015 Update

MOVE starts Friday at 7 p.m. Here are a few prep items:

Bring a sleeping mask. Due to fire code, some of the lights in the sleeping area have to stay on. Or you can imagine that you have a very large nightlight.

Research a real need in your community, something that students can do something about. This real need will be the basis for the Shark Tank: MOVE edition. We'll have coaches present to help your group think through their idea and get ready for the competition. Two grants are at stake: $500 and $250 to put the ideas into action.

To get MOVE text updates, text "follow @nwcym" to 40404 (NOTE: There is a space between follow and the @ symbol, but no space between the @ symbol and nwcym).

There are several road closures in the Twin Cities this weekend. To see if it will impact your travel, check out http://www.dot.state.mn.us/weekendtrafficimpacts/

Youth Pastor's Connection

Thursday, April 16, 12-3 p.m.

YPC logo new Salem Covenant Church, New Brighton, MN

John Wenrich, Director of Congregational Vitality for the ECC, will be with us. He'll be speaking about leadership and how to apply Vitality resources and concepts to youth ministry.

If you've ever heard John speak, you know that he's an incredible motivator and he's passionate about strengthening the established Church throughout the world. Bring a lunch.

Upcoming NWC Events

Adventures in Leadership - June 20-27

Applications and recommendations are due Monday, April 13. Nominate one or two of your students who have strong leadership traits for an intense, week-long leadership development experience. Students and churches will be notified of the results of the selection process by the end of April.

AIL is for select high school students and is based at Adventurous Christians camp on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. It's a powerful time of learning leadership principles and putting them into action, all in a guided, challenging environment. If you're interested in being an AIL leader, contact Jon Kramka at jon@northwestconference.org. Information and materials are available on our AIL page.

MUUUCE - Aug. 6-8, 2015
Crossroads Church, Woodbury, MN. Registration will be available following MOVE.

CHIC 2015

July 12-17, Knoxville, TN

Excursions

Excursion sign-ups have started. They usually cost some extra bucks and you'll need to reserve space for your group.  http://chic2015.org/excursions/. If this is your first CHIC, don't feel like you need to sign up for an excursion every day (or at all). There's lots of stuff happening on campus during free time.

Transportation

The NWC office is working on bus stops and schedules. If your group is riding a NWC bus, look for bus assignments in June (after CHIC registration closes and final payments have been made).
