Youth Pastor's Connection

We're taking Maundy Thursday (4/17) off

YPC logo new This month, our regular gathering would've been on Maundy Thursday. Because Holy Week tends to be a bit busy for those of us in ministry (a gross understatement), we won't be meeting. Join us next month, Thursday, May 15, for the last Youth Pastor's Connection of the season.

Maundy Thursday Prayer

This is the Welcome Table of our Redeemer,
and you are invited
Make no excuses, saying you cannot attend;
simply come, for around this table you will find your family.
Come not because you have to,
but because you need to.
Come not to prove you are saved,
but to seek the courage to follow wherever Christ leads.
Come not to speak but to listen,
not to hear what's expected, but to be open to the ways the Spirit moves among you.
So be joyful, not somber, for this is the feast of the reign of God,
where the broken are molded into a Beloved Community,
and where the celebration over evil's defeat has already begun.

From the Mennonite song book, "Sing the Journey."

MOVE (Mission Outreach Venture and Experience)

We had an amazing MOVE last weekend. Two hundred and sixty-eight high school students and leaders converged on First Covenant in Minneapolis for 22.5 hours of worship, learning and serving. Look for the full story on the NWC MOVE page. Visit the Children, Youth and Family media page to see photos from the event.

Many thanks to Todd Bratulich and his team at First Covenant and the rest of the MOVE team: Erick Abramson (Bloomington), Mary Kate Fretheim (Minnehaha Academy), Jason Hovis (Karmel), Zach Klein (Maywood), Kate Makosky (First Covenant, St. Paul), and LaToya Taris-James (Community, Minneapolis).

For those of you who were asking about Tim King's benediction on Saturday, he said it was an edited version of Wendell Berry's Manifesto: The Mad Farmer Liberation Front.
