Navigating the Senior Pastor - Youth Pastor Relationship

YPC logo new The relationship between senior pastors and youth pastors can be, at times, like heaven and other times, it can be like ... well, it can be bad. In a survey of 155 youth pastors, over 42% of youth pastors listed "pastor difficult to get along with" as one of their reasons for leaving their jobs. During this month's Connection we'll be discussing this critical relationship honestly and safely with Mark Stromberg, Kris Bjorke and Brian Farka.

Mark is the Superintendent of the Northwest Conference. Prior to joining the Conference office, he served in several churches as a lead pastor. Kris is the director of InterServe Ministries, which works with churches that are between youth pastors. She's been active in youth ministry since 1989 and has served in congregational youth ministry and has worked for Youth Leadership at Luther Seminary. Brian is the Pastor of Student Ministries at Alexandria Covenant church and comes with decades of experience in youth ministry in other denominations.

Bring your lunch and meet us from 12- 3 p.m. on March 20 at Bethlehem Covenant (3141 43rd Ave. S., Minneapolis 55406) www.bethlehemcov.org.

MOVE (Mission Outreach Venture and Experience)

Friday, April 4 to Saturday, April 5 @ First Covenant Church in Minneapolis

Registration Deadline for MOVE 2104 is Thursday, March 20

It's time for our annual high school service and mission weekend. It's a great experience for students who are looking to put their faith into action. Many youth ministries use this to prepare their students for summer missions or service trips.

The theme is "Lose Yourself." Our speaker is Tim King. Tim is the Chief Strategy Officer at Sojourners and a former Covenant youth group guy and North Park University graduate. There also will be multi-sensory creative worship experience designed by Lilly Lewin. She's designed space at the National Youth Workers Conventions and Wild Goose festival and is the author, along with Dan Kimball, of "Sacred Space: A Hands-On Guide to Creating Multi-sensory Worship Experiences."

Registration and promotional materials can be downloaded at northwestconference.org/children-youth-family/move
