NWC Update head 11

News from the Northwest Conference

Christmas greetings from your Northwest Conference staff

The staff of the Northwest Conference extends to you our best wishes and the hope that you and your loved ones experience a blessed Christmas! It continues to be our distinct privilege to serve alongside you and share life and ministry together.

The Northwest Conference office will be closed for the holidays Dec. 23-25 and Dec. 30-Jan. 1.

Dear NWC Pastors,

When's the last time you had breakfast with the President?

Well, the good news is he's coming to the Twin Cities on Feb. 10 and you're invited to dine with him. That's right, Gary Walter, the President of the Evangelical Covenant Church, invites you to join him for breakfast. Here's the scoop:

  • Place: Crossroads Church, Woodbury Campus
  • Time: 9-11 a.m.
  • Menu: Quiche, oatmeal, etc. (a breakfast fit for the President and his favorite pastors)
  • Cost: Free!

We're excited to host this event. It'll be a great meal, a great time to connect with each other, and a great opportunity to hear Gary respond to questions like: Describe the Covenant as you see it in 10 years? What worries you? What excites you? Where do see the "gay marriage" issue going in the Covenant? What is one thing would you like to say to us?

Please RSVP if you (and any staff) can come by Feb. 1. Email your RSVP to cheryl@northwestconference.org or call the NWC office.

Hope you can join us ... have a blessed Christmas,

Phil Print, Crossroads Church

Recharge 2014 to feature NWC staff members leading breakouts

Looking for another great way to train your volunteer teams? Recharge is a day dedicated to equipping leaders in children, youth and family ministry. Main session speaker, Rich Van Pelt, trains thousands of educators, counselors and youth workers each year in adolescent crisis intervention and teen suicide prevention and response. Breakout workshop sessions for Children and Youth Ministry volunteers will be offered.

Conference staff Ginny Olson and Kara Stromberg are both leading breakout sessions at Recharge. Ginny will teach about ministry to girls and Kara is leading a seminar on ministry in small church settings. We also have a room set aside for all Covenanters to gather for lunch together. Hope to see you there!

Plymouth Covenant Church to host author and marriage specialist Dr. Kevin Leman

Marriage Matters, a ministry of Plymouth Covenant Church, is excited to offer an amazing opportunity to strengthen marriages. Dr. Kevin Leman, best-selling author and nationally recognized speaker, will be talking to couples Jan. 12-13 at Plymouth Covenant Church. Sunday night he will share about "making sense of the man or woman in your life," and on Monday night he will dive into "sheet music-uncovering the secrets of sexual intimacy in marriage."

We believe that we must be intentional to continually strengthen our marriages, and this is a perfect chance. Would you please consider promoting this event at your church. Below is a sample promotional message used by our marriage ministry team, and attached you will find a poster that can be printed. Tickets are available on line at www.plymouthcovenant.org
