HeyMUUUCEONIANS!
Only 2 weeks until MUUUCE begins! As of today, there are 47 churches and 706 students and leaders registered.
If you haven't registered your group yet, contact Sandra Florin at Crossroads ASAP! Her email is SandraFlorin@crossroadschurch.cc.
Here are a couple of things to keep in mind as you prepare:
Background Checks
Every adult leader must have a background check in order to participate in MUUUCE. If you don't know where to get one, check with your church insurance agent. Or Shepherds Watch is the one used for the last CHIC: www.group.com/shepherds-watch
Food Needs
Let Sandra know if any of your students have special food needs, e.g. gluten-free, allergies. We will do our best to serve them, but it helps to have a "heads up."
On the MUUUCE path
Make sure your crew has something to eat on the way to MUUUCE. There will be snacky stuff at the carnival and pizza after roller-skating, but no full-blown meal.
Check in
Check in is at Cottage Grove Middle School - not Crossroads. At check in, the MUUUCE staff will need to meet with you or the point person for your ministry. They will go over medical issues that have been indicated on the registration forms to be sure you're aware and can take proper precautions since you the one responsible for your students.
Carnival
The welcome carnival is from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at Crossroads. There's lots of stuff to do and junk to munch! And everything is free!! After you're done registering at Cottage Grove Middle School, get your group together and jump on the Crossroads shuttle.
Ouch!
We will not hold or dispense medications of any kind, including Tylenol, Advil, etc.
Friday at Valleyfair
Here's what's included at Valleyfair: admission, dinner and the water park.
Here's what's not:
- The Dinosaurs Alive exhibit is not included in park admission. The cost is $5 per person.
- GoKarts are an extra $6 per person
Lodging
We're staying at Cottage Grove Middle School again this year. There will be locker rooms with showers for adults only (no students allowed). Also, consider bringing an eye mask or bandana to help you sleep. Sometimes the school security lights have a mind of their own!
You spoke and we listened.
Chaos
This year, we'll draw a church's name out of a bucket and it will be up to you, the youth pastor, to choose which students will participate in Chaos. For you MUUUCE newbies - Chaos is a bunch of crazy, messy, games that may, or may not, involve gelatinous, sticky, and/or slimy components to be ingested, smeared or soaked in. Most students LOVE it. Some students are terrified. Choose your students wisely.
Youth group time
After every session with Heather Flies, we've included 20-30 minutes worth of youth group time for leaders to connect with kids and unpack what Heather spoke on.
