Children & Family Ministry
Network Gathering

April 18, 2013

Bethlehem Covenant Church, Minneapolis, 12-3 p.m.

Bring a lunch

We've heard from a few of you that hosting Children & Family Ministry network gatherings at the same time as the Youth Pastor's Connection would be a good idea, so let's try it!

You're invited NEXT MONTH to meet with other Children & Family Ministers on April 18, at Bethlehem Covenant Church in Minneapolis from 12-3 p.m.

Michael Novelli We'll gather for lunch, then join the youth workers for a presentation by Michael Novelli, founder of Echo the Story, senior curriculum developer for Sparkhouse, and former youth pastor.

"For several years, Michael has been developing narratives and training to help others discover the art of 'Storying,' a dialogical approach to Bible learning. Michael is continually seeking the most effective ways to help young people learn."

We're working out the details but know that there will be time for food (the kind that you bring yourself), time for prayer, an interactive presentation by Michael Novelli and maybe even some thought-provoking dialogue along the lines of "what I wish children/youth ministers knew about the ministry I do." We hope to see you on the 18th!

For those of you with longer distances to drive, don't fear! We are planning for other networking opportunities that are not twin-cities based. Stay tuned ...

Children & Family Ministry Luncheon

It was great to connect with many of you at the CFM luncheon, held at Crossroads Church in Woodbury on Feb. 28. The CFM commission would love to hear your feedback. How are you integrating what Scott talked about? How can the conference meet your needs more effectively when we take time to gather together? Send your thoughts to kara@nwc-cov.org. We'd love to hear what you have to say.

Sticky Kids, Sticky Faith
Dr. Kara Powell, author of 'Sticky Faith,' to speak at Annual Meeting

Kara Powell

NWC Annual Meeting, April 26-27

Minnehaha Academy, Minneapolis, MN

FREE

You had a chance to hear her at Recharge. Now, cast the vision of the whole church sharing ownership of faith development in young people by bringing your senior pastor, leaders, parents and others who care about kids. They'll hear how adults (not just the children/youth staff) need to come around young people to help create a faith that sticks beyond high school.

Friday night, Kara is preaching at the worship service on "Sticky Faith Churches: The Relationships and Worship that Benefit All Ages."

Schedule:

Friday, April 26 7:30 p.m. - Speaker: Kara Powell, "Sticky Faith Churches: The relationships and worship that benefit all ages." Afterwards, stick around for a dessert gathering to meet other youth and children-type people in our conference.

Saturday, April 27 10:00 a.m. - Speaker: Kara Powell, "Sticky Faith: Practical Ideas to Deepen Your Ministry"

Both Friday and Saturday's gatherings are free and open to the public.

To download promo materials or register for the meting, visit our NWC Annual Meeting page. For more information about Sticky Faith and free, downloadable resources, go to stickyfaith.org.

Autism: Tools to Integrating the Church and the Student

April 8, Youth Leadership

Join Lisa Fernelius and Bekah Miller for an education about autism and learn practical, hands-on ideas to help integrate students with autism in your youth ministry setting. You will also learn communication techniques (with parents, other leaders and students themselves), making realistic expectations (for yourself, your ministry and your students), and how to create an Individual Ministry Plan for students within your church.

If you attended this 1-hour workshop at Recharge - get ready to take things to another level. More info: www.youthleadership.org/3HOUR-Training.aspx
