Marie D. Mirra, CPA and Mayor Frank DelCore together performed the ribbon cutting ceremony at the new office located in The Courtyard in Hillsborough, NJ on the evening of Friday, April 15th. David Kois, Toni Natale and Gene Strupinsky from Hillsborough Township were present at the event. Also, in attendance was Ms. Mirra's husband, Pat Mirra, the Mirra & Associates staff, family members and friends.
The ceremony was followed by h'orderves and a sentimental toast given by Ms. Mirra in which she expressed her sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in the celebration and her gratitude to those who supported her over the years since the inception of the Firm on May 1, 2003.
Mirra & Associates, LLC began its operations as a small public accounting firm with one employee in a small office space. Due to unprecedented growth over the years, the company has moved from two previous office locations to its current location in a new two-story, six thousand square foot, owner-occupied brick building with room for expansion and growth including a beautiful view of Duke Farms across Route 206. Upon entering into the office, the reception area is very welcoming, and includes workstations and offices on the first floor with a large conference room, kitchen facilities to be enjoyed by its employees on the second floor. Mirra & Associates, LLC is conveniently located off of Route 206 North and near Routes 287, 78, 202, and 22.

PSE&G Prepared for This Week's Hot Weather
With temperatures reaching the 90s this week, Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G), New Jersey's largest utility, is monitoring weather conditions and has additional personnel on hand to handle any power interruptions as a result of the high temperatures. The utility's call centers also have extra personnel on duty to speak with customers, and additional appliance service technicians are scheduled to assist with air conditioner repairs. "We prepare for summer all year long by replacing and reinforcing electric circuits and other equipment, using helicopters to inspect our high-voltage transmission lines, and conducting employee training and summer readiness drills," said John Latka, PSE&G's senior vice president-electric and gas operations. "Although we expect to have no problem delivering the additional power our customers will need to stay cool, we are keeping a close eye on the weather and will have the personnel on hand to respond to any outages." The demand for electricity on Wednesday was forecasted to be 8,937 megawatts, with power demand potentially increasing each day that temperatures remain in the 90s. PSE&G's all-time summer peak was 11,108 megawatts, set on August 2, 2006.
To report power outages or downed wires, call PSE&G's Customer Service line at 1-800-436-PSEG. Also, customers can report outages online by logging into My Account at pseg.com. To report power outages via text message, and receive outage updates by text and email, sign up for MyAlerts. The utility's mobile-friendly website includes an "Outage Map" that is updated every 15 minutes and displays the location and status of power outages in PSE&G's service area.
If experiencing difficulties with central air conditioning units or other appliances, PSE&G customers can schedule a WorryFree** repair service appointment online by logging in to My Account, or call 1-800-436-PSEG (7734). Customers can save energy and money by following a few easy and inexpensive tips. - Seal holes and cracks around doors and windows with insulation or weather-stripping.
- Don't cool an empty house. Set your thermostat higher when you are away.
- Don't cool unused rooms. Close the vents and shut the door.
- Ceiling fans cool fast and cost less than air conditioning.
- Operate appliances in the morning or evening when it is cooler outside.
- When washing dishes or clothes, run full loads.
- Wash laundry in cold water.
- Close blinds and draperies facing the sun to keep out the sun's heat.
- Replace air filters monthly. Dirty filters make your air conditioner work harder.
- Use a microwave or crockpot instead of the oven. They won't heat the house.

Heat Wave Safety Checklist
In recent years, excessive heat has caused more deaths than all other weather events, including floods. A heat wave is a prolonged period of excessive heat, generally 10 degrees or more above average, often combined with excessive humidity.
To prepare for a heat wave:
-
Listen to local weather forecasts and stay aware of upcoming temperature changes.
-
Be aware of both the temperature and the heat index. The heat index is the temperature the body feels when the effects of heat and humidity are combined. Exposure to direct sunlight can increase the heat index by as much as 15° F.
-
Discuss heat safety precautions with members of your household. Have a plan for wherever you spend time and prepare for the possibility of power outages.
-
Check the contents of your emergency disaster kit (bug out bag) in case a power outage occurs.
-
Know those in your neighborhood who are elderly, young, sick or overweight. They are more likely to become victims of excessive heat and may need help.
-
If you do not have air conditioning, choose places you could go to for relief from the heat during the warmest part of the day (schools, libraries, theaters, malls).
-
Be aware that people living in urban areas may be at greater risk from the effects of a prolonged heat wave than are people living in rural areas.
-
Get trained in First Aid to learn how to treat heat-related emergencies.
-
Ensure that your animals' needs for water and shade are met.
