Girl Scouts Honored With Proclamation for Gold Award
At the December 29th Township Committee Meeting, the Mayor and Township Committee honored Girl Scouts Brooke Lautt, Lauren Gross and Molly Doyle for achieving their Gold Awards. The young ladies, all members of Girl Scout Troop 60278, devoted many hours toward reaching this goal and each completed a Gold Award project.
Brooke's project, "I Was Thinking of You Today", involved collaborating with the University Medical Center of Princeton and Trinity Church of Princeton to create over 85 gift bags for children in the pediatrics unit of Bristol Myers Squibb charity clinic.
Lauren's project, "Hats for Hope" consisted of Lauren teaching sports clubs and honor societies how to make no-sew fleece hats. Lauren delivered these hats to St. Peter's Hospital and the hats were given to adult and pediatric cancer patients during the holiday season.
Molly's project was creating a 200 meter hill loop, Raider Hill Path, that connects to the existing Big Boy Path at Hillsborough High School.

Donations Sought for the Homeless
Personal items and clothing requested
The Somerset County Department of Human Services is seeking donations of personal and clothing items to be included in packages that will be distributed Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, when Somerset County will conduct its annual "Point-in-Time" survey of homeless individuals and families in Somerset County.
Requested personal items include shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash, deodorant, lotion, and feminine hygiene products, as well as new blankets and towels. Clothing items include new hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, socks, underwear, sweatshirts/pants and T-shirts. Other items include bottled water and juice boxes, as well as individually wrapped snacks: granola bars, crackers, nuts and trail mix.
"I want to thank the public for their generosity in the past," said Freeholder Brian D. Levine. "Given the difficult economy, individuals and families that are already vulnerable are finding it even more difficult to make ends meet, and any donations would be greatly appreciated."
Donations can be dropped off weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, Jan. 22, at the Somerset County Community Development Office, located on the fourth floor of the Human Services Building at 27 Warren St. in Somerville.
