Hillsborough Township Recognized at the 2015 New Jersey Complete Streets Summit for Adopting a "Complete Streets Policy"
Presented at Rutgers University by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration and the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center

Hillsborough Township was recently recognized at the 2015 New Jersey Complete Streets Summit by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration and the Voorhees Transportation Center for adopting a "Complete Streets Policy".

A Complete Streets Policy enables safe access to all road users including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit vehicles and motorists. A Complete Street is defined as a means to provide safe access for all users by designing and operating a comprehensive, integrated, connected multi-modal network of transportation options.

"Complete Streets ensure safe access for all users. The ability for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders of all ages and abilities to move safely along and across a Complete Street is the driving force behind our policy," commented Deputy Mayor Greg Burchette, Liaison to Planning.

Cornell Thomas, Power of Positivity
7 PM, Wednesday, November 11th @ Pheasants Landing Restaurant

Join us for a free event at Pheasants Landing to listen to Cornell Thomas, author of "The Power of Positivity" and "The Power of Me". Doors open @ 6:30, talk begins @ 7 PM.

At four and a half, Cornell lost his father to Cancer leaving his mother to raise five children. He understands and admires the difference Steps Together is making.

"I thought my purpose in life was to play professional basketball. In 2003 I received a contract to play professional basketball in Portugal. A dream I had since I discovered the sport at 16 finally came to fruition. Two weeks before I was supposed to leave I suffered a career ending injury. Little did I know that injury helped me find my true purpose in life, which is helping and motivating others. In 2010, I decided I wanted to start a new movement. I was sickened by all of the negativity I was seeing online. I decided to start writing my own motivational quotes for my personal Facebook page. The quotes eventually led me to writing a blog, and the blog led to my first book "The Power Of Positivity-Controlling Where The Ball Bounces." In 2011, I realized what my true purpose is. That purpose is to inspire and motivate others. I've been fortunate enough to speak all over the United States sharing my story with people from all walks of life. Daring others to say What Now instead of Why Me in the face of adversity.

Cornell's two books "The Power of Positivity" and "The Power of Me" will be on sale for $10 and $15 respectively or both for $20.  Be sure to join the Facebook event and register below!

This is a free event. Registration is suggested for the purpose of event planning.
