JCP&L Completes Thermovision Inspections to Help Enhance and Maintain Service Reliability

MORRISTOWN, N.J., Sept. 10, 2015 -- Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) has completed thermovision inspections on 300 circuits on its distribution system across northern and central New Jersey.  The inspections feature thermographic cameras and serve to detect potential problems on wires and other equipment that cannot be observed during regular visual inspections.

Thermovision cameras capture infrared images of distribution lines exiting substations and where fuses are located on poles.  The images are downloaded to a computer and reviewed.  The infrared technology shows heat on a color scale, with brighter or "hot spots" indicating potential problems.  As a result of the inspections, JCP&L identified and corrected nearly 100 potential problems.

October is National Reading Group Month. To celebrate, Somerset County Library System of New Jersey is extending an invitation to the community to attend reading groups at all 10 library branches this October.

"I call our reading groups 'book discussions' - not book talks - because the discussion that participants have is what makes them so great," said Yvonne Selander, SCLSNJ's collection management supervisor who hosts and participates in multiple book discussion groups. "The personal experiences that are shared are what make the groups so interesting. I love that 15 people can read the same book, but all read something different."
