2014 Township Audit Completed
Financial Records Found in Compliance
"Hillsborough Township's 2014 Audit has been completed and once again we are pleased to report that the auditors have found the Township's ledgers in compliance.  This year's audit did not have any significant findings to warrant an audit comment," reported Mayor Doug Tomson at Tuesday's Township Committee meeting.

Suplee, Clooney & Company, the Township's Municipal Auditor, conducted the audit, which was completed in June.  Upon completion the audit report was submitted to the Township and as required by New Jersey State Law the audit is reviewed and acknowledged by resolution.  The audit summary will also be published in the newspaper, as required by law and will be made available on the Hillsborough Township website.

"The fiscal responsibility placed on Township Finances has proven effective as evidenced by the consistent favorable audit results," commented Committeeman Carl Suraci, Finance Liaison.

"These results are credited to the ongoing dedication of our Municipal employees," concluded Mayor Tomson.

Township to Collect Photos for the "Town Calendar"
Certificates Presented to Last Year's Contributors
"Last year we brought back the Township Calendar and it received such favorable reviews, we will again issue a Township Calendar for 2016," announced Mayor Doug Tomson.

"The Township is working with Town Planner Calendar to produce a 2016 color printed calendar which will be mailed out to every residence in Hillsborough, at no cost to our taxpayers.  Funding for the project is generated via the advertisements contained within the calendar," stated Mayor Tomson.

The calendar, which will be mailed out in December of 2015, will include various schedules, important dates and phone numbers for the coming year as well as twelve photographs featuring Hillsborough Township's landscape and scenery.

The Township Committee presented certificates of appreciation to those individuals who submitted photographs that were used in the 2015 calendar; Helen Haines, Evan Klimko, Jim Roselli and Gary Wiesner, at Tuesday's Township Committee meeting.

Individuals interested in submitting photographs for consideration can email their high resolution image to the Township Clerk at pborek@hillsborough-nj.org.  A photo release will need to accompany the pictures and there is no guarantee that the photo will be used.

"Again this is a great opportunity to promote local businesses and services as well as enjoy our local scenery all year long," concluded Mayor Tomson.

News From Engineering
If a business owner, condominium association or apartment complex is repaving their parking lot, they must obtain a permit through the Engineering Department. There is a NJDEP State mandate that if a parking lot is repaved, any storm drainage inlets must be modified to meet the new stormwater regulations which require the curb inlets to have smaller head openings to prevent bottles and cans from entering the storm system. Please contact the Engineering Department to go over the permit process. The NJDEP requires the Township to enforce these requirements.

JCP&L Transmission AerialInspections August 2015
Please be advised that Vista 1 plans to start performing UV/IR Inspectionson the JCP&L transmission lines (115 kV only) beginning Monday August 17th. The UV/IR Aerial Inspections in the JCP&L region typically require about 2 to 3 days for completion, depending of course on weather conditions, as well as other scheduling needs. The helicopter will be flying slowly (20-30 mph) along the lines, and may hover at any time for a closer inspection. The helicopter scheduled for these patrols is a black and silver Bell 206 w/ registration (tail) number N321AW. Please see attached photo for details.

It should be noted that the contractor has been authorized to patrol the transmission circuits in their entirety (i.e. "breaker-to-breaker"), so patrols on certain lines may therefore extend into the neighboring regions. The flight crew provides information on their daily location to both Transmission Lines Maintenance and the SCC, and the pilot will be in communication with any local airports when in their airspace. Please advise local Safety Forces and other public entities or sensitive customers as needed.
