Hillsborough Promotes Corporal McMahon to Sergeant

The Hillsborough Township Committee promoted Corporal Michael McMahon to the position of Sergeant. Sergeant McMahon was sworn into his new position by Mayor Tomson at Tuesday's Township Committee Meeting. McMahon, a veteran of the Department, was found to be the highest rated candidate during the promotional process earlier this year.

Hillsborough's Got Talent

Hillsborough High School Theatre hosted their first ever "Hillsborough's Got Talent". The winners were six dancers from Premier Dance. The Hillsborough Rockettes and Rocket came in second, while the singing duo "The Little Witches of Hillsborough" came in third.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING: Comcast of Central New Jersey - Application for Renewal of Municipal Consent

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: that the Township of Hillsborough will hold a municipal consent hearing Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 7:30 pm in the Municipal Courtroom of the Peter J. Biondi Building, located at 379 South Branch Road, Hillsborough, New Jersey.

This hearing will be held for the purpose of evaluating the application of Comcast of Central New Jersey II, LLC for the renewal of its municipal consent to own, operate, extend, and maintain a cable television and cable communications system in the Township of Hillsborough and is held in accordance with N.J.S.A. 48:5A-23, N.J.A.C. 14:18-11.6, and all other applicable statutory and regulatory provisions.

All interested parties are invited to attend and be heard with respect to this application. Copies of the application will be on file with the Township Clerk and can be reviewed Monday through Friday between hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm at the Administration Office of the Township of Hillsborough.

Missed Hillsborough's FREE Rabies Vaccination Clinic?

For anyone who missed Hillsborough's FREE rabies clinic, Montgomery Township is hosting a rabies vaccination clinic this Saturday, January 31th at their Public Works garage on Harlingen Road.

Dogs will be vaccinated from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
Cats will be vaccinated from 10:30 AM to 12:00 Noon.

This clinic is free to any NJ resident.

Hillsborough Selected to Participate in the NJ Devils' "My Town" Series on March 8th

Special Tickets Available for the Devils vs Flyers

"Tickets are still available for the NJ Devils game on March 8 in which Hillsborough Township will participate in the New Jersey Devils' My Town Series," announced Mayor Doug Tomson.

The New Jersey Devils tested the program during the last National Hockey League Season with 5 New Jersey towns and following that successful pilot program, the program was further expanded this year.

As part of the My Town Series, there will be an Honorary Captain and a Hillsborough military hero of the game. The Hillsborough Township Police Department Color Guard will present during the pre-game festivities. Special tickets will be available for the sections reserved just for Hillsborough.

"Join us to honor Hillsborough's military hero at the Prudential Center during the Devils game," commented Mayor Tomson, during the announcement.

Tickets are already on sale and more information can be obtained by visiting Devils.nhl.com/hillsborough. Be sure to input the special code: MYTOWNHILLS when placing ticket orders.

Reminder: Grant Applications Being Accepted through the Hillsborough Rewards Credit Card Program

Non-Profit Groups Serving Youth and Seniors Invited to Apply

Grant applications are being accepted through the Hillsborough Rewards Credit Card Program. The applications are available for Township based non-profit, senior and youth organizations to apply for grants up to $1,000 funded through the Hillsborough Township Credit Card Rewards Program.

The grant applications can be found on the Township website at www.hillsborough-nj.org/forms or directly downloaded here. Copies are also available at the Municipal Clerk / Administration Office. Completed applications are to be returned by February 27, 2015.

The credit card program, which is administered through the Affinity Federal Credit Union - Hillsborough Branch, allows individuals to sign up for a special Hillsborough Township Rewards Credit Card with a percentage of the usage amount returned to the Hillsborough Credit Card trust fund, where it is distributed to various Township non-profit senior citizen groups and youth organization through the grant application process.

Card users receive a point for every dollar spent which can be redeemed for various reward options such as cash back, gift cards, merchandise and much more.

Baseball Pancake Breakfast on Super Bowl Sunday

Come out and help support the Hillsborough High School baseball teams at their annual all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast on Super Bowl Sunday, February 1, at the Hillsborough Municipal Building. Doors open at 8am and ends at 1pm.

The cost is $8.00 with tickets available at the door. The fundraising event features IHOP pancakes, bagels, omelets, sausage, munchkin donuts, and hot & cold beverages.

Sponsored by the HHS Raider Diamond Club, funds raised provide additional equipment and supplies above and beyond budgeted items.

Hillsborough Recreation Update

Recreation Spring Sports Registration Ongoing

Registration is currently open for both youth spring sports: Soccer and Softball! Soccer is open to boys and girls age 3 to grade 12, and softball is open to girls in kindergarten to 12th grade. Registration can be done from the comfort of your own home online at hillsboroughnjrecreation.org. The deadline for registration for soccer is March 9, and for softball is March 2.

Join us for a day of family fun 5k fun run at Ann Van Middlesworth Park on Sunday, April 19. Enjoy the scenic course route through fields and on trails.
