Tomson Selected For 2nd Term as Mayor

Burchette Chosen as Deputy Mayor in Hillsborough

Hillsborough Township Committee re-elected Doug Tomson as Mayor and Greg Burchette as Deputy Mayor for 2015, at the annual re-organization meeting Monday evening.

Committeewoman Gloria McCauley, who was re-elected in November, was sworn in for another three year term on the Township Committee.

Tomson, born and raised in Hillsborough, is a Government Affairs Director for the New Jersey Association of Realtors.  He served as Mayor for 2014, Deputy Mayor in 2013 and previously served on the Planning Board and Capital Planning Committee since 2008.  He has also served as liaison to various Boards and Commissions for the Township such as the Agricultural Advisory Committee, Board of Education, Cable Advisory Committee, Board of Health, Local Assistance Board, Library Council, Recreation and Parks Commission, and the Youth Services Commission.

Mayor Tomson highlighted his top three initiatives for 2015; maintaining the business-like approach to government while keeping the municipal budget within the 2% cap by not taking any of the allowable exceptions and keeping a watchful eye on the fiscal operations of the Township.  He will work with County officials to continue the development of Mountain View Park and has vowed to keep the momentum of promoting Hillsborough for new businesses and retaining existing ones.
