Hillsborough Voters Re-elect Mayor Doug Tomson and Committeewoman Gloria McCauley

Mayor Doug Tomson and Committeewoman Gloria McCauley were re-elected to the Hillsborough Township Committee in Tuesday's General Election

Tomson was originally elected in 2011 to the Township Committee and will be serving his second term while McCauley was originally elected to the Township Committee in 2008 and will be serving a third term.

6th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 7:00pm

Hillsborough Township will be hosting its 6th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 7pm at the Garden of Honor, located at the Municipal Complex. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Multipurpose Room.

The program will include a ceremony at the Garden of Honor followed by a brief reception for participating Veterans and their spouses immediately following.

Members of the public are invited to observe the Garden of Honor ceremonies.

Municipal Offices Closed on Tuesday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day

Second Annual Peter J. Biondi Memorial Trail Run/Walk

Last month the Second Annual Peter J. Biondi Memorial Peter J. Biondi Trail Run / Walk was held at the Sourland Mountain Preserve in Hillsborough, benefiting the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program (SHIP).

Leaf Drop Off Available

Get rid of your unwanted leaves on any Saturday starting November 8th through Saturday December 20th, from 7am until 3pm. This free leaf drop off program is open to all Hillsborough residents. Only leaves will be accepted, no brush, yard waste or other debris.

Swim Lessons

Recreation's swim lessons are an excellent way to get your child acquainted with the water. Qualified and enthusiastic instructors from the Hillsborough YMCA teach your child the skills needed to be a successful swimmer. With a small instructor to student ratio and different levels of classes, each child will learn new skills quickly. Registration is currently open.

MOVEMBER

Men are encouraged to grow moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and other male cancers. The Movember Foundation runs the Movember campaign at us.movember.com. The goal of Movember is to "change the face of men's health." Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths. A date towards the end of the month will be set to take a photograph of participants and supporters. Stay tune for more details.

Somerset County Sheriff's Office to Host Medication Drop-off Nov. 8

Part of American Medicine Chest Challenge

You can get rid of expired, unused or unwanted medications this Saturday, Nov. 8, at the American Medicine Chest Challenge (AMCC) drop-off at the Somerset County Sheriff's Office, located in the county administration building at 20 Grove St. An officer will be on duty from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accept unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medicines for proper disposal.

The AMCC initiative is cosponsored by the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey and the National Directory of Permanent Prescription Drug Collection Sites. For more information, including additional drop-off locations around the state, visit www.AmericanMedicineChest.com/NJ
