Halloween Curfew in Effect Through November 1st From 10PM - 6AM
Chief Paul A. Kaminsky of the Hillsborough Township Police Department would like to remind residents of his concern for the safety of all those who participate in Halloween festivities. No persons under the age of 18 shall be permitted on any public place, public street, or public property in the Township of Hillsborough between the hours of 10pm & 6am, from October 30th thru November 1st, unless that person is in attendance at a program or function sponsored by the municipality, church, school or at a doctor's appointment or is accompanied by an adult over 21 years of age. Halloween Safety Tips Chief Kaminsky would like to offer suggestions to parents of young children who "trick or treat" from door to door at this time. The following precautions will hopefully lead to a safe and happy time for all our Township residents * Wear light colored clothing that's short enough to prevent tripping and add reflective tape to the sides, front and back of costume. * Make sure children can see well through face masks, or cosmetics that create fun or scary faces. * Adults should accompany young children. * Go out in daylight and carry a flashlight in case of delay. * Stay within the neighborhood and only visit homes you know. * Watch for traffic. * Only give and accept wrapped or packaged candy. * Examine all candy before allowing children to eat it. * Keep costumed children away from pets. The pet may not recognize the child and become frightened.

Reminder: Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 2nd at 2am. Don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour and check your batteries on your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Somerset County & Hillsborough Township Announce First Phase of Development at Mountain View Park
Officials from Somerset County government, the Somerset County Park Commission, and Hillsborough Township recently marked the soon to begin first phase of an athletic complex at Mountain View Park with a ceremony at 141 Mountain View Road in Hillsborough, the site of the former GSA Belle Mead Depot. Somerset County and Hillsborough Township executed an Offer to Purchase the 369-acre property with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) in October of 2008. The Somerset County Improvement Authority ultimately acquired the property in April of 2009 at a cost of $15,735,000. The funds from the purchase were then applied to the environmental cleanup of the former depot. "Turning the former GSA Belle Mead Depot into a functioning recreational asset for the residents of Somerset County is a huge undertaking that will provide immeasurable value," stated Somerset County Freeholder Deputy Director Mark Caliguire. Important Health Department Updates
EBOLAEbola is the name of a rare disease caused by a strain of the Ebola Virus. The disease is only spread through direct contact with the body fluids of an infected person who is ill with symptoms. The more severe symptoms a person has, the more contagious they are. It is believed that Ebola originated from wild animals such as the fruit bat, that live in bush lands of Africa. It is believed that the Ebola Virus can spread to people if they handle an infected animal to prepare for eating, or if they don't cook it enough before eating it. Click here for more information.... ENTEROVIRUS D68 UPDATEIt is the season for colds and Flu! Many viruses circulate this time of year, taking advantage of our more frequent indoor, close contact situations. One group of viruses called Enteroviruses, is a large group, with over 100 kinds. One kind that circulates less often is the Enterovirus -D68 (EV-D68). Most older people have been exposed to this strain, and likely have some immunity and will experience no symptoms, or mild symptoms. Click here for more information...
