REALTORS Come Together to Assist Homeowners and Enhance Communities
Last month, dozens of REALTORS® and Affiliate partners from The Hunterdon/Somerset Association of REALTORS® and the Warren County Board of REALTORS® came together in Hillsborough, and Washington, NJ to spend the day doing much needed maintenance work for homeowners who were unable to do the repairs themselves. Realtors® Care Day® is an all-day initiative dedicated to positively impact homeowners living conditions. Both homes had fallen into disrepair as the result of difficult circumstances of the homeowners. Volunteers spent the day working on exterior repairs, and landscaping. One homeowner reported seeing an increase in the neighborhood foot traffic immediately after the repairs were made. You could hear pride in her voice, when she said "they keep walking by, looking at my house and smiling". Volunteers found the experience extremely rewarding, "I can't believe how much was accomplished in just 1 day...after 2 hours you could already see a difference and the homeowners face was amazing as she saw it all taking shape", said Timothy Catlin of C221 Worden and Green. Department of Environmental Protection Urges Motorists to be Extra Cautious With Deer Mating Season Underway
DRIVERS CAUTIONED TO BE ON LOOKOUT FOR DEER NEAR ROADWAYS, PARTICULARLY DURING MORNING AND EVENING COMMUTESThe Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and Wildlife is urging motorists to be alert for white-tailed deer on roads with the arrival of the fall breeding season. Deer tend to be much more active at this time of the year, and may suddenly dart across roadways. Motorists are urged to be especially attentive during morning and evening commutes when visibility may be poor. Research by State Farm Insurance indicates that deer were involved in 26,860 motor vehicle accidents in 2013. The number may actually be significantly higher due to unreported collisions. "Drivers should use extra caution to avoid collisions that could result in injuries and damage to their vehicles, as deer movements related to breeding have begun and will pick up in the coming weeks," said Division of Fish and Wildlife Director David Chanda. "Caution will become even more important when daylight saving time ends Nov. 2, causing commutes to align with periods when deer are most active."
