Hillsborough / Montgomery Municipal Court Recognized Again by Vicinage 13 of the Superior Court
The Municipal Court staff of the Hillsborough / Montgomery Municipal Court was recently recognized for "outstanding case management during the recently concluded court year," according to Presiding Judge William T. Kelleher, Jr. In a letter received from the Superior Court of New Jersey, it was further stated that the 9.4% backlog represents the lowest percentage of the 21 municipal courts in Somerset County and the fourth lowest out of the 63 municipal courts that comprise Vicinage 13. "We commend our Municipal Court staff for their ongoing excellent case management during this past court year, which ended on June 30, 2014," commented Mayor Doug Tomson at Tuesday's Township Committee meeting. Municipal Division Manager, Joseph Bolles stated, "Not only was Hillsborough/Montgomery the top court in the Vicinage this was achieved as Hillsborough/Montgomery faced a 23% increase in total filings." Township Records Found in ComplianceMayor Doug Tomson announced at Tuesday's Township Committee meeting, "The 2013 Audit has been completed and we are pleased to report that the auditors have found the Township's ledgers in compliance and this year's audit did not have any significant findings to warrant an audit comment," reported Mayor Doug Tomson at Tuesday's Township Committee meeting. "Once again, it is evident that the fiscal responsibility we place on Township Finances has proven effective as evidenced by these audit results," added the Mayor. Suplee, Clooney & Company, the Township's Municipal Auditor, conducted the audit, which was completed in July. Upon completion the audit report was submitted to the Township and as required by New Jersey State Law. The audit is reviewed and acknowledged by resolution. The audit summary will also be published in the newspaper, as required by law and will be made available on the Hillsborough Township website. "The results of this audit are credited to the ongoing diligence of our Municipal employees," added Committeeman Frank DelCore, Liaison to Finance.

Stream Team Volunteers Needed
The Central Jersey Stream Team (CJST) is an all-volunteer organization that does some really dirty work of simply picking up man-made debris from the waterways and transporting it all to a central location where public works crews can properly dispose of and recycle the materials. On each clean up event, we focus on a specific area of the river and collect dozens of tires, loads of scrap metal and lots of plastics. We have picked up a moped, water heaters, couches, chairs and even the front panel off an A.T.M. machine! It's absolutely amazing what we find laying on the bottom of the river bed and an even better feeling that night when you know all of that debris has been removed from our waterway for proper disposal! Earlier in 2014, we have had several clean up events and in total we have now swept the river starting in a location by Spruce Run, down through Clinton, Flemington, Readington, Branchburg and the far western side of Hillsborough. This has been an amazing accomplishment and as we move down stream, there is more and more to pick up! This specific event is now Hillsborough's turn with the end spot in neighboring Raritan Boro! On Saturday August 23rd, CJST volunteers will meet at 8 AM on Old York Road at the river access spot. For more information, click here...
