TRAFFIC ADVISORIES/ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS: 

East Mountain Road:

East Mountain Road will be closed for construction between the Hillsborough Township border and County Route 601 for the next several months.
Please plan alternate route.
Suggested Route:  Mountain View Road to Route 206 to Route 601

Weston Canal Road:
The bridge over the canal on Weston Canal Road in Franklin Twp. will be closed for 3-4 months. There may be traffic delays impacting Hillsborough Twp. Please plan accordingly.

River Road:
River Road (CR 625), Hillsborough between Beekman Lane and Somerset Street will be closed on or about March 31st for approximately two weeks, and again on or about April 28th for approximately one week for road repairs and resurfacing.  Traffic will be detoured via Beekman Lane, New Centre  Road, Dukes Parkway West, US Route 206 and Orlando Drive during this time.

Hillsborough Township Committee Honors Read Across America  

 


 
Hillsborough Mayor Doug Tomson presented a proclamation to Hillsborough Township District Supervisor for Literacy, Sheila Cooper in honor of Read Across America Day.  Mayor Tomson, Deputy Mayor Burchette and Committeeman DelCore also visited some of Hillsborough's elementary schools earlier this month as part of the Read Across America celebrations.

Mayor Tomson and Committeewoman McCauley Cut the Ribbon at Boro Toy Shoppes Grand Opening   

Mayor Doug Tomson and Committeewoman McCauley cut the ribbon for The Boro Toy Shoppe's Grand Opening earlier this month.  The recently opened store is located at 411 Route 206 North in Towne Centre.

Hillsborough / Montgomery Municipal Court Honored by Vicinage 13 Superior Court

The Municipal Court staff, Hillsborough Township Administrator Anthony Ferrera, Montgomery Township Administrator Donato Nieman and Municipal Court Judge John Richardson were acknowledged at a meeting hosted by the Vicinage 13 Municipal Division of the Superior Court. Assignment Judge Yolanda Ciccone cited the Municipal Court for its extremely low backlog (the lowest in the vicinage) and the exceptional case management skills of Court Administrator Susan Keeth, Deputy Court Administrator Nancy Horvath and Violation Clerks Joanne Bertolini and Lisa Strothers.  

Judge Ciccone thanked Anthony Ferrera and Donato Nieman for working closely with Municipal Division staff in an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual support.  Municipal Division Manager, Joseph Bolles stated, "The success of our relationship has elevated the Hillsborough/Montgomery Municipal Court as a model for shared court relationships." This sentiment was expressed by several of the attendees including Eugene L. Farkas, Trial Court Administrator, and Marlene Sullivan, Administrative Specialist 4. Ms. Sullivan was an instrumental collaborator in assisting the court during a period of transition, as the court experienced a seventy-five percent turnover of essential personnel.

Hillsborough Township Names Team to Participate in Charity Basketball Game  

Mayor Doug Tomson announced the Township team that will participate in the Hillsborough Joes vs. the NFL Pros basketball Game.  "I am excited to name our Township team consisting of our Township Committee, Administrator Anthony Ferrera, Construction Official John Fiedler, Director of Parks, Recreation and Social Services Ron Skobo and Township Clerk Pamela Borek."

"Additionally, we have received word on the NFL team, which will consist of Kareem Huggins - New York Jets, Michael Campbell.- New York Jets, Tony Logan - NE Patriots Barrett Brooks- Pittsburgh Steelers - Super Bowl Champion, Joey Porter - Oakland Raiders Brandon Bing - New York Giants - Super Bowl Champion and J'Vonne Parker - Denver Broncos," added Mayor Tomson.

The basketball game will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Hillsborough High School with proceeds from the event benefiting the Hillsborough / Millstone Municipal Alliance, BoroSafe, Life Skills and Dreams for Kids.

Honeywell Instant Alert for Hillsborough Residents  

Register Today and Be Informed

Hillsborough Township rolls out the Honeywell Alert Notification System to Township residents.  "Keeping the residents of Hillsborough Township informed and involved helps to ensure the safety of our community," stated Mayor Doug Tomson at Tuesday's Township Committee meeting.   

This mechanism (the Honeywell Instant Alert system) will be used to deliver brief, informational messages to residents via text message, email and phone message.  Messages can range in nature from updates on upcoming events to emergency notifications and closures.  In order for the system to be effective, residents are asked to sign up and maintain the accuracy of the contact information on the profile page.  

"This is just another step in keeping the residents informed and up to date with information in the Township," stated Mayor Doug Tomson.

Mayors Wellness Million Hearts Initiative Extended Through March 31st and March / April Contest Announced 

March is National Nutrition Month and Colon Cancer Awareness Month

Last month, as part of the American Heart Health Month, the Mayors Wellness Campaign challenged all Hillsborough adults age 20 and over to take the Million Hearts Pledge at www.millionhearts.hhs.gov.  That contest will remain open through the end of March announced Mayor Doug Tomson at Tuesday's Township Committee meeting, where he directed residents to the Health Department's website for more information.  Winners of this Million Heart Pledge will be announced in April.

"March is National Nutrition Month and Colon Cancer Awareness Month," announced Mayor Doug Tomson.  He went on to remind residents that good nutrition is important to proper growth and development in children and to overall good health in adults.
