Township Honors Jr. Raiders Varsity Team

The Hillsborough Junior Raiders Varsity Team ended their regular season in first place of the Junior Skylands Football Conference with an undefeated record of 9 - 0.  Not only did they win the conference, the team also won the New Jersey Unlimited Weight Youth Football Association American Division State Championship.  Therefore, it was only fitting that the team be called upon to receive a proclamation from Hillsborough's Mayor and Township Committee in honor of their successful season.  This past Tuesday, the Court Room was bustling with players from both the Varsity and Junior Varsity Jr. Raider Teams.  Stay tuned to next week's e-news for the JV team.

Congratulations Team on a fantastic season!

Hillsborough Township's FREE Rabies Clinic - Rescheduled for Saturday, February 1st, 10am - noon

In an effort to provide a safe environment for both the pet owners and their pets, Township Officials postponed the previously scheduled Free Rabies Clinic, originally scheduled for last Saturday, and it has been rescheduled for this coming Saturday, February 1st, 10am until 12 noon, weather permitting.

Hillsborough Township's Health Department offers the annual rabies clinic for New Jersey cats and dogs, FREE of charge.  The rabies clinics are held at the Department of Public Works Facility, located on East Mountain Road.  Last weekend, in anticipation of snow and the flurry of activity in and around the garage area of the large vehicles, it was determined that the clinic would need to be postponed.

"Over the years, the Township has hosted over a hundred FREE rabies clinics and this was only the second one canceled in nearly 40 years," stated Mayor Doug Tomson.

Hillsborough Township's Website Redesigned

Municipal websites have become one of the most important tools for citizens to obtain information about municipalities, according to a Monmouth University Poll that was conducted last year on Best Practices for Municipal Websites.

"The Hillsborough Township's Municipal website has been redesigned in an effort to be more user-friendly and easier to navigate," stated Mayor Doug Tomson at Tuesday's Committee Meeting.

The newly designed website boasts a streamlined navigation method for residents to easily utilize the many resources that can be found on the Township's website, particularly the most commonly requested website information.  Whether you are looking for information on a building permit, obtaining information for an upcoming Health and Wellness Clinic or checking on emergency information during a storm, the Township's website is the place to visit.

Recycling Calendar: 'First Saturday,' Holiday Closing in February

'First Saturday of the Month' Drop-off

BRIDGEWATER - Somerset County residents can take advantage of the next First Saturday of the Month Drop-off event to clean up around their homes on Feb. 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Somerset County Recycling Center, located at 40 Polhemus Lane, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.

First Saturday drop-off events enable busy residents to recycle tires, clean textiles and usual curbside items in one fell swoop, as well as help people in the community who are less fortunate by donating food items for a local food bank.

As part of the program, residents can drop off up to eight tires - with or without rims, scrap metal, used motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze and usual curbside materials, including chipboard items and plastic bottles and containers, marked #1 through #7.  Chipboard includes gift, shoe, shirt and all retail boxes, as well as cereal, cookie, pasta, cake and cracker boxes, without the plastic liners.  Also poster board, backing from writing pads and empty, dried-out steel paint cans are accepted.
