Meet Doug Tomson- Hillsborough's 2014 Mayor

Hillsborough born and raised Douglas Tomson was sworn in as Mayor of Hillsborough Township for 2014 at the Annual Reorganization Meeting held earlier this month.  Mayor Tomson, a graduate of Hillsborough High School, received a BA in Political Science and Global and Multinational Studies from Rider University.  He is the Government Affairs Director for the New Jersey Association of REALTORS® where he is charged with following, analyzing and working with lawmakers to amend legislative and regulatory measures that have an impact on homeownership and the real estate industry.  He resides in town with his wife Rachel, and three daughters Sara, Hannah and Hailey.

Mayor Tomson was sworn into his first term on January 3, 2012 and served as Deputy Mayor in 2013.  He has served as the liaison to Agricultural Advisory Committee, Board of Education, Cable Advisory Committee, Board of Health, Local Assistance Board, Library Council, Recreation and Parks Commission, and the Youth Services Commission. Prior to his election, Douglas served on the Planning Board and Capital Planning Committee since 2008.

2014 Senior Chapter "A" Swears in New Officers  

Township Clerk Pamela Borek conducted the swearing in ceremony last week for the 2014 Officers for Senior Chapter "A".  Welcome and best of luck Chapter "A".

Scaglione Named Freeholder Director for 2014

Caliguire is Deputy Director

Patrick Scaglione of Bridgewater was named 2014 director of the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders at the board's annual reorganization meeting, which was held on a snowy Jan. 3rd at the Historic Courthouse.  Mark Caliguire of Montgomery will serve as deputy director this year.

A former Bridgewater Township Council president, Scaglione joined the Freeholder Board in 2010 and was deputy director last year.  Caliguire, who served as Montgomery Township mayor for two years during his time on the Township Committee there, filled a one-year unexpired term before being elected to a full three-year term as Freeholder last year.  The other members of the Freeholder Board are Robert Zaborowski of Franklin and Patricia L. Walsh of Green Brook.

Walsh, who won re-election in November, was sworn in to her third three-year term on the Freeholder Board.  Frank J. Provenzano of Raritan took the oath of office for his fifth term as Somerset County Sheriff.

Rutgers Women's Gymnastics 2nd Annual Girl Scout Day

Girl Scouts and their friends are invited to join in a special SCOUT DAY on Saturday, March 8th from 1-3pm, hosted by the Rutgers Women's Gymnastics Team. The event is being organized by local Hillsborough Girl Scout Troop 60261 and will be held at the Livingston Recreation Center in Piscataway. Cost per girl is $7 (adults are free) and includes a special commemorative giveaway, raffle prizes, a participation patch and lots of fun!
