Second Life for Tanker Truck
|
Hillsborough Township began a brine program in 2002, when they utilized a re-purposed truck, mechanically altered to disperse brine onto Township roadways. Hillsborough was the first municipality in the County to use this method of pre-treating the roadways in advance of storms. Salt brine is water saturated with sodium chloride also known as rock salt dissolved in water, used as an anti-icing approach, which can prevent frost on roadways for up to three days. It also helps delay the accumulation of snow and ice on pavement. Most recently a water tanker donated from the Wood Road Fire Company #3 is the new addition to the Township's brine program. Originally through the efforts of Hillsborough Township Chief Fire Marshal, Chris Weniger who championed the agreement between the Fire Commissioners and the Department of Public Works, the tanker was donated to DPW, in return for repairs previously performed on the tanker.

All Participants Entered in Drawing to Win Super Bowl Tickets
"Hillsborough Township is partnering with Somerset Medical Center in the Super Community Blood Drive along with Adult CPR Classes," announced Mayor Frank DelCore. This special event will take place on Thursday, December 12th from 3-7 p.m. at the Peter J. Biondi Building located at 379 South Branch Road.
