Mayor Frank DelCore hosted members of Cub Scout Pack 189 to satisfy their requirement to meet with a community leader and learn about the duties of their position.  This requirement was part of their Citizenship Badge, which focuses on the rights and duties being a U.S. citizen along with the history and respect for the U.S. Flag.  The Pack met in the Mayor's office for the discussion and then proceeded to the Municipal Courtroom where the Township Committee Meetings are held.

Track Performance Leads to Holiday Donation

Congratulations to Hillsborough Middle School student, Jared Burchette, on his recent season of Kart Racing.  The season, which just ended a few weeks ago, culminated with Jared coming in 2nd in the New Jersey Sprint Series for 2013 at the National World Karting Championship.  He also came in second in the regional Raceway Park Season for his age bracket.

Only racing race Karts competitively for the last three years through the National World Karting circuit, Jared has earned distinguished rankings.

His rewards for his final competition included a 35 pound turkey, which the young racer chose to donate to the Hillsborough CAN - "Community Assistance Network" for the upcoming holiday drive.

Jared, a member of Boy Scout Troop #489 is a typical teenager; enjoys Xbox and being with friends with the only exception being he can drive his race kart nearly 100 miles per hour. He has raced in Englishtown, NJ, Vineland, NJ, Middletown, NY, Indianapolis, IN, Charlotte, NC and will be heading to Daytona later this year. Going fast is just a thing he does; his recreation.  But participating community events and volunteering of his time is also where you can find Jared when he is not on the racetrack.

For more information about the Hillsborough CAN or to adopt a family this holiday season, please contact the Hillsborough CAN at rooms@hillsborough-nj.org or call Cathy Faerber at 369-3880.
