Hillsborough Township Partners with JK Design in the Renaming of the Social Services Food Pantry

Founder and President of JK Design Felt This Project Was a Way to Give Back to the Community
 Township Officials flanked a cloth draped easel as they prepared to unveil the new Hillsborough Township Food Pantry logo and tag line to a packed room of members of the faith-based community, non-for-profit organizations, volunteers, local elected officials and the media, to further expand the outreach services available through the program. "The goal through this initiative is to expand the outreach of our programs and services," stated Mayor Frank DelCore in his opening remarks. "We realize many folks are struggling through these challenging economic times and it is our focus to provide the appropriate assistance," continued the Mayor.

Hillsborough Township Qualifies for 100% State Aid
|
4th Consecutive Year Meeting Best Practices Requirements
Hillsborough Township Mayor Frank DelCore announced that Hillsborough has met the state's best practices criteria for the 4th consecutive year, qualifying for 100% of the eligible state aid. "The Best Practices Inventory Questionnaire, which began four years ago, is issued by the state to determine whether a municipality is using the best management and fiscal practices on behalf of taxpayers. Hillsborough has an outstanding record for best practices when it comes to municipal finances. The fiscally responsible and business-like operations of our local government is once again reflected in the Township gaining best practices approval by the state again," stated Mayor DelCore during his remarks at Tuesday's Township Committee meeting.

Township Committee Declares October 6th through 12th as Fire Prevention Week
|
 The Township Committee of Hillsborough proclaimed October 6th-12th, 2013 as Fire Prevention Week throughout Hillsborough Township and urged residents to check their kitchens for fire hazards and to use safe cooking practices. Preventing kitchen fires is as simple as staying in the kitchen while frying, grilling, broiling, or boiling food. Home fires killed more than 2,500 people in the United States in 2011, according to the latest research from the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and fire departments in the United States responded to more than 370,000 home fires. Hillsborough Police Officer Christopher Weckenman and Resident Steven Gorski are Awarded for their Lifesaving Contribution
|
 Hillsborough Township Officer Christopher Weckenman and local resident Steven Gorski helped saved the life of a drowning boy. While attending a picnic, a boy was found on the bottom of a pool, and Steven Gorski quickly responded by pulling the boy out of the pool. Once the boy was out of the pool, Christopher Weckenman immediately began to perform CPR and was able to revive the boy. Christopher's brave and selfless actions exemplify the highest standards of the Hillsborough Township Police Department.

 Township residents are invited to sign up for the annual Central Jersey Heart Walk! Signing up for the Heart Walk is a great way to support groundbreaking pediatric heart and stroke research that can save lives. The Heart Walk is on October 20, 2013 at 8:00 AM in Johnson Park River Road & Violet Drive Piscataway, NJ. 08854. Sign up now at the Administration office. Department of Public Works 2013 Hillsborough Township Leaf Pick Up
|
Start date for leaf pick up is November 4th Program will run through December 2013 (weather permitting) Leaves should be raked to the curb NOT in the roadway, LEAVES CAN BE PLACED IN A HOMEMADE BIN WITH STAKES AND WIRE FENCE TO CONTAIN LEAVES IN ONE AREA, NO HIGHER THEN 36 INCHES AT THE CURB.
All residents on Township roads with DITCHES: please rake leaves TO the ditch line on your property NOT IN DITCH, leaves may also be placed in a homemade bin. Bagged leaves will NOT be accepted. Leaf piles with sticks, branches, grass clippings or anything other than leaves will NOT be picked up. Areas with normally heavy concentrations of leaves will receive at least two passes.

Duke Farms Halloween Hike on Saturday, October 26th

Join us for a festive night of family-friendly activities!!!  Some of Duke Farms' "scariest" residents will be found along a 1.5 mile trail where they will explain why they are actually good for the environment and why you shouldn't really be scared of them at all. Visit with some poison ivy, a bat, a skunk, a dead tree, a wasp and others as you collect good-for-you treats along the way. Date & Time: October 26 @ 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Bring a bag for your candy-free treats, costumes welcome but not required.
