On or about August 15, 2013 an overnight NJDOT re-paving project on Route 206 from the north side of Montgomery Township through Hillsborough will begin.  The re-paving will take place from 8pm until 6am and will take a few weeks to complete.  Residents and travelers are urged to plan accordingly.  The project will consist of milling, re-paving and re-striping. There will be intermittent lane closures between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm.

Schools Open 

Police Chief Paul Kaminsky would like to remind area residents and commuters that Hillsborough Township Schools will open the new school year on Monday, September 9th. Motorists can anticipate an overall increase in traffic volume throughout the township as school busses take to the streets.    

 

Motorists are cautioned to be alert for stopped school busses and increased pedestrian traffic.  It is also recommended that motorists plan for a longer commute through all of next week as everyone gets accustomed to schools being back in session.

Township Committee Honors Flagtown Fire Company

Mayor Frank DelCore presented a proclamation to Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company #1 in honor of their 75th Anniversary.  In addition, the Mayor thanked the members of the fire company for their continued support and dedication to keeping Hillsborough residents safe.

Township Committee Honors Daniel Erceg 

Hillsborough High School senior, Daniel Erceg Cahill was honored at a recent Township Committee Meeting with a Proclamation for being selected as a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.

9/11 Ceremonies

Hillsborough Township Volunteer Fire Co. # 2, Station 37 will host a ceremony at 9:45am sharp and which will conclude at approximately 10:30.  If planning to attend, please arrive between 9:15 and 9:30.  

 

Woods Road Fire Company #3 will host a ceremony at 7pm at 324 Woods Road.

Residential Fire Sprinkler Demonstration   

Presented By: The Somerset County Fire Marshals Association

Each year in the United States, Firefighters respond to 370,000 residential structure fires. These fires result in about 2800 fatalitites, over 13,000 injuries and 7 billion dollars in property damage. Flea Market Announcement  

Come to the Flea Market on Saturday, September 7th at the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co #2 at 375 Rt. 206.  It will start at 9 AM and go as long as there are customers. The firehouse is across from TD Bank and near Hillsborough Radiology. The Flea Market is held outside, behind the Fire House, in the upper parking lot of Hamilton Road. Parking is on the grass behind the firehouse and in the upper parking lot, above Hillsborough Radiology. There is no parking in the Hillsborough Radiology's parking area.

Flea Market outside spaces are available for $15 each. Vendors can just show up that morning and pay,  no reservations needed. Future dates are September 21st and October 5th. New Members Wanted for Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. #2 Auxiliary

The Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. #2 Auxiliary invites you to come to their next meeting on Tuesday September 10th, at 8 pm, on the 2nd floor of the firehouse. Their primary purpose is to assist & support Hillsborough's Volunteer Firemen and their families, and to raise funds for the Fire Co & charities. The Auxiliary also can participate in parades, fire company events, and much more.

The Auxiliary has their meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. They welcome anyone who is interested in checking them out or may be interested in a new member.  Potential members do not need to have a relative in the Fire Co. to join. The firehouse is located on Rt. 206 in Hillsborough, next to Hillsborough Radiology and across the street from TD Bank. Hillsborough Family YMCA Annual Fall Fest '13

To welcome in the fall season, the Hillsborough Family YMCA will throw open its doors to the community on Saturday, Sept. 14th for a free day of fun for all ages.

The nonprofit Y will host classes in fitness, dance and have other activities for children and adults, as well as offer  healthy food and snacks.  Visitors will have the opportunity to learn how the Y brings families together to enjoy healthy living.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., staff and volunteers will be on hand for activities that include health, wellness, swimming, games, youth sports and enrichment. There will be something for everyone in the family.

"We're inviting the entire community to join us for this great community event," said Mark Ibarra, Membership Director at the Hillsborough Family YMCA. "Those who visit us will be able to participate in our programs and enjoy an open swim time."
